Bop's Pizza 921 Blairs Ferry Rd NE Suite 130 Cedar Rapids , IA
After reading so many comments about Bop's, I had to give it a try.

Far more spacious than you are lead to believe from the outside. Ample seating with artwork pieces that are completed puzzles. You have table seating on one side and booth seating on the other.

Once the family and I entered Bop's, we were promptly greeted by smiling faces. The gentleman cooking the pizzas waved and said hello with a big smile. It was like we knew each other (in all honesty); we did think we knew each other; I'm pretty sure it's a kindred spirit thing.
We were checked in with multiple times and had excellent service throughout :)!

Cheesy bread with tomato sauce. I loved this! They offered to cut it into eight pieces which worked perfectly for us. It was so good that I was trying to keep my expectations down on the pizza. I love to get myself so pumped many times to where I feel a bit bummed after the excitement build-up, and it wasn't the case here :)!

Where to start. We ordered a New York:
Queen Margherita Five cheese blend, fresh Mozzarella, Roma Tomato & Fresh Basil
And a Detroit-style Pepperoni (this style can take between 35-40 minutes), but you can't rush perfection! I would wait all day, every day, for that pizza ;). If you are in a rush, it might be best to order ahead.
It was fantastic! As some have said, the tomato sauce is just perfect, I was hoping it would be amazing, and it was). It balances the sweet and salty so well. One can tell this is made fresh and in-house. The crust was delicious as well. With a light, crispy, texture and is also made by scratch in-house.
For those of you that need a Gluten-free option, that looks wowie, it is also offered at Bop's. Seeing other Gluten-free crusts really makes you appreciate a crust like this. See attached photo; it's hard to believe!

We went all out. Ordered ruhbarb pizza. The Rhubarb is brought in from local sources, and you can tell it's so fresh. It's got that tang and fresh taste that you can only get from an excellent fresh rhubarb. WE LOVED IT. We also tried out the sugar cookies, and they did not disappoint! I HIGHLY recommend the dessert pizzas with the experience we had.
Drinks I just wanted to make a note here for those that wonder. They also had some beers on tap, which are in the attached photo.
Fun Fact: It's not on the menu, but you can order Chicago-style pizza on Tuesdays until they run out ;)! Better mark your calendar! They also have vegetarian options.
To sum this up, we found our new favorite pizza place in CR/Marion!

Read moreThe pizza is definitely a 5/10. For comparison I would put need pizza at a 6.5. Not thin and crispy but floppy and doughy. I asked for it well done as I do with most pies but the person making the pizza riddled me with particulars so I said: "make it how you normally make it". If it was a little bit more solid on the crust side, I'd probably give it a full six rating. Not enough seating in the pizzeria. Customer service was top notch. Way too much sauce on the pizza, a sauce devoid of the flavor of the magic fruit we call a tomato. Ingredients not balanced at all. If you want something that's better than Casey's pizza, perhaps with less sodium, then give it a shot. My guess is the people that work at this place have either gotten lazy or their pizza is just plain borderline and they refuse to change. If I made pizza that matched the gourmet frozen pizza you buy at Target (this is exactIy that), I would be ashamed of my existence. I ate one slice off the pie and gave it to the Indian lady next door at the Indian restaurant, she seemed grateful. I know Iowans have a pallet and I know they gave up long ago on consistent good cuisine because profiteers from surrounding areas came in and opened franchises, but this is just ridiculous. Change your ways, people will love you. The ones that already do just think they can't get anything better. Maybe they're right??? If your going to eat here, get buzzed first, they have beer.

My wife and I have come to love this place. The people here are friendly, helpful and go that extra mile to make sure the pizza is always great. While we have requested pizza from here many times before, this time we wanted a different pizza from our normal, pepperoni, pineapple, extra cheese on Detroit crust. (We know, pineapple is blasphemy, but it can be really good). Since we have had issues with pineapple on pizza not cooking well with other places, we asked if we could get our pizza cooked a bit longer. However, the experts at Bop's let me know they made it a bit differently since just cooking it longer could burn the crust, and what came out was perfection. Perfectly cooked through brown crust on the bottom, warm melty cheese, hot pineapple and pepperoni that mingled flavors for sweet and savory flavor with the extra kick only pepperoni has and the mouth watering fragrance of the warm sauce with added herb topping. Not even mentioning the perfectly crisp toasted edges. My only regret is not getting a second pizza.
Just had to add, it's already been 2 years and this place has only gotten...
