Friday, September 5th around 3PM we visited Kathy's Pies. We had a pleasant person wait on us. So pleasant that we tipped her $2 for what we thought was her good information. However, after getting our bakery goods home we felt betrayed. Despite her very pleasant demeanor, she clearly was not honest. She told us we should try the special pistachio pie that she described as a chocolate pie with a pitachio cream topping. When in fact, it was nothing like our favorite chocolate pie. Instead of Kathy's great crust--it was graham cracker crust--we do not like the latter. Instead of it being primarily a chocolate pie, it was a pie that had some sort of white layer on the bottom a very thin layer of chocolate next and then the pistachio--we couldn't recommend the pistachio pie. In addition to a choclate pie and coconut creme pie, cherry turnover and triple chocolate cupcakes, we purchased a blueberry pie that we were told was fresh--as compared to the marked down one, she said was two days old. As a person who has made and eaten lots of pies, the "fresh" blueberry pie had to be at least three days old. The crust was soggy and the filling was like paste. Very disappointed on two fronts. Read moreIf I had known there was a place I could render appraisal for this establishment, I would've done such so many times before. Kathy's Pies are absolutely magnificent; first of all because of the careful "strategy" they use with "timely set baking". Secondly, the staff ALL seems to follow precise step-by-step procedures. Thus, one can tell by the flavor: not too toasted, never lacking it's main ingredients, fruits, or flavors! We respect Kathy's Bakery for their wonderful sanitation, being allowed to see the preparation in action, and how careful they are about "The Distance of Life In Foods" --thus, ALL laws to freshness remain extreem. Not, to mention how better I feel receiving a warm smile, service, and (at times) very brief & positive conversation ALL with a "thank you" and a smile. It makes my coffee, my morning, & my mood to start my day ...far more calm. If anyone hasn't been to Kathy's Pies, they're missing the classic chance of enjoying REALLY GOOD, ol' style, homestyle goodies!! Bless All of You, Rev. Raynal...
Read moreKathy’s Pies definitely doesn’t have much in the way of parking spaces but fortunately, I found one in the lot.
The pastries served here are impressive. The cinnamon and pecan rolls are a large size and have a taste to match. I also enjoyed the brookie cupcakes, no shortage of chocolate in them.
As for my most recent purchase? The chocolate cake was nice and soft with some killer frosting. All I regret was not having some milk handy to wash it down.
My compliments to the people working there for their hard work. I’ve tasted what they’ve done and they have my respect. I’ll definitely be back soon (though a bigger parking lot...
