I live in port Washington and came here to use a gift certificate to order take out for family. Being a custard place I thought it was odd first there were no fries or burgers so my one family member isn’t “into” the quinoa-kale trend and settled on some sandwich. There were no options for my diabetic family member, which is typical; sugar free isn’t a trend like opting to eat like you have celiac disease. So, they cheated and got the roast beef and mushroom sandwich, I got the bmt which was fine…just mozerella and tomato on a ciabatta roll for $8.50. Being as we are located two towns over I knew they would need to sit in the car and not be as warm. When I arrived our sandwiches sat in a bag on the counter next to the register for about 10 minutes while they got 2 ice-creams and 3 drinks ready and who knows how long before that I told them I would be there in half hour. They were very busy. There were no clear lines to the register, while there was a “pick up” sign with the lack of organization inside the restaurant it was initially disorienting. When I ordered and read sprecher root beer on the menu I though it would be in bottles I could put in a bag, but when they brought it, they we in extra large cups with ice and I understood why my bill was so high as I didn’t specify a size with my understanding. I reached over the counter and put the drinks and ice-cream in drink carriers. When I got home the drink carrier had become moistened the right corner and in didn’t help that I should have set my purse down to open the door and two drinks fell out of the container onto the floor. It’s my fault, as had I asked I would not have ordered the sodas, typically when writing and this applies to menus, for consistencies sake you don’t list all the sodas “sprite” “mellow yellow” and then put “sprecher” in front of root beer because that implies it is separate from the other drink fountain beverages, as in, it comes in a bottle and that is misleading. The sandwiches were fine didn’t taste like much of anything, they were no longer warm but not only were they not warm from the drive the cheese had hardened to the bread and were slightly soggy from sitting on the counter. Also, the seasonal peppermint shake tasted simply like vanilla icecream and candy cane pieces sprinkled on top making it “so-so” and slightly disappointing. Again, this place is okay but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here again or spend money, I regret spending money in addition to the gift...
Read moreI visited this restaurant on Sat 3/22. TERRIBLE. I managed restaurants for over 15 years and this place was a joke.
TERRIBLE FOOD: Dry, ingredients were not fresh and should have been rotated or replaced. It tasted like the products were old.
TERRIBLE SERVICE: There were "kids" running around. Understandable - we all need jobs. The younger person who gave me my order was just standing at the front counter looking at everyone while some girl ran circles around them. I gave my name to pick up my carryout order. Carryout being the key word - it should be efficient, quick, and ready.
The younger person handed me my order. I left and got home only to find out that I did not have an ice cream which I just assumed was with everything. I spent over $30 and did not have time to turn around and go back.
I called and spoke with the "female manager" who informed me someone would refund my item the next day (Sunday).
I waited until I saw the charge clear this morning. No refund processed.
Not only did I have TERRIBLE SERVICE AND TERRIBLE FOOD. I was unfortunately lied to.
Restaurants can be challenging the way it is - this restaurant may want to consider their staffing needs and communication - in addition to their product quality. Definitely "old" veggies.
Absolutely terrible experience which makes me sad as I was looking forward to trying food and possibly having a large group treated there for a birthday.
Do not have high expectation. You can make their food in your own kitchen and have a much better experience. Inefficient, Disappointing, never going...
Read moreOut & Out Catering / Eatery & Custard is a great experience. I was visiting relatives and had the opportunity to experience this incredible food establishment. We needed to bring food for a 5-year-olds birthday party, and he requested the mac and cheese from Out & Out. Never argue with a 5-year-old…you will lose.
We placed our order online to expedite the process and were given a pickup time. We arrived a little after the lunch rush to pick up our phone order.
I don't know when I have seen such an extensive menu of options. If you can't find it here I don't think you can find it anywhere. The staff was very helpful making sure that we had everything that we needed to make a birthday boy happy. We ordered a platter of wraps and mac and cheese. Love the options for protein with the wraps.
The food was once again fresh and tasty. Everyone from a 2-year-old to an 80-year-old was happy. Not always an easy task.
If you live in this area or nearby this is definitely a place to utilize. I can't wait till I come back. I have mac and cheese and...
