Soooo, upon the recommendation of companion 3, we went to Famous Restaurant in Centerville. I had been trying to get to this restaurant for a while and was glad to have the opportunity to finally go. Let's backtrack to everyone's meal. We started out with the avocado eggrolls, once again a recommendation from companion 3. The menu described the eggrolls as having avocado, black bean hummus, cheese, roasted tomato, and jalapeno. Although it was a nice appetizer to have for the table, I would not order it strictly for myself. I never had warm/hot avocado before, so it was interesting. I didn't really get the taste of the other flavors. I definitely did not taste the jalapeno. There were whole grape tomatoes in it that did not taste roasted and were a little hard to eat being that they were whole. The ranch sauce didn't do anything to enhance the flavor. A pinch of salt most likely would have elevated the dish.
Companion's 1, 2, and myself ordered the fish and chips. It was a large piece of haddock fish. Companion 1 felt the fish was greasy on the bottom side. Companion 2 also thought the breading was a little too thick. Nothing special about the fries, though they were hot and crisp. I don't know what was going on with the coleslaw. Although fast food, I believe KFC has a pretty good coleslaw. The coleslaw we had today did not come close. The color and flavor were off putting. It made me feel as though the vegetables were old and on the verge of going bad. Companion 3 ordered the chicken burrito bowl and I semi quote, "was feeling healthier already." It looked to be enough for probably two meals. Companion 3 liked the taste of the rice in the bottom and all the crisp, cool veggies on top. It was also felt that the chicken was marinated well. Companion 4 had the naked boneless chicken and tator "medallions", not tots. It was also felt that the chicken had a very good flavor from the marinade. Side note: the "sweet tea" and I use that term very loosely, left a lot to be desired.
All in all, my curiosity for Famous Restaurant has been satisfied, and I don't have to repeat the experience. It would have been even more disappointing...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I decided to try this place on a whim on a Thursday evening a little after 6 o'clock. It wasn't too busy so it seemed like a win. The restaurant itself had a good atmosphere and we were happy that they offered outdoor seating. We were seated immediately which was great and our waiter came out to us promptly. We put our order in and the food came quickly. I can see why it did. I tried the Famous burger but was underwhelmed by it. It seemed like something that was just heated up and tossed on a bun. The Famous chilli that came on top of it wasn't worthy of that name I felt and it was overall just mediocre. My girlfriend tried the buffalo chicken wrap and while that was better than the burger it still left something to be desired. She mentioned the cafeteria where we worked made better wraps and I whole heartedly agree. Those were filled way more with chicken and veggies for half the cost of what Famous charges. The Famous tots were decent and had good flavor but a little heavy and greasy. No entrees come with a side (most places a burger or wrap would come with fries or chips at the very least) which is strange and seems like a way for the restaurant to make more money. It worked I guess because we ordered tots. Our waiter asked if the food looked right and as I was hesitant to say "yes" immediately because I was still scoping out the meal and something felt off I said "I think so.." he quietly and quickly said "Okay" and walked inside. We didn't see him for 15 to 20 minutes. The other waiters and waitresses were out very often tending to their tables but our guy was just gone. I was hoping to get a refill on my drink that was empty but that took 20 minutes or so. Overall I'd say the experience was mediocre at best. The food seemed like lower end quality that could easily have been heated up in a microwave (we got it maybe five minutes after ordering around dinner time..you be the judge) and the waiter just didn't seem to care about us. We felt bloated after and overall not great. I spent almost $50 ($46 with tip included) for just two people for mediocre food and experience. I'd have to say I...
Read moreI don't typically write negative reviews but this one is needed. My husband and I decided to go here yesterday spur of the moment. When walking in the first impression is that it's cute, seems clean and organized. That was probably the last of the positives. Making this 2 stars because of the initial impression and because I'm hopeful that other staff treat customers better than we were treated. Our experience below. *Waitress was completely disinterested in her having to be there. Not personable. No sense of urgency. No concern for details. *Order made incorrectly- requested tomatoes not to be on the burger. Piece of tomato on the burger around tomato soaked bun where they had realized their mistake and took it off before still trying to serve the same bun. *Waitress advised that pickles weren't on the sandwich but on the side. Burger came out with pickles on the sandwich and she acted as if it was ordered that way. Ultimately she took it back to have it redone. *Replacement burger comes out and is missing the lettuce that was to be on it...waitress now clearly annoyed..leaves and comes back with a couple pieces of lettuce on a plate and tosses the plate down and walks away saying nothing. *Husbands platter was to include fries. Came out with no fries. Asked waitress and she said not included but that it was extra. We explained again that that wasn't accurate. She finally got her notebook out to 'double check' and realized we were correct. *After finally getting the correct orders, we go to eat and it's all lack luster at best. Nothing was very good. Just mediocre. *Never received refills on our drinks even after the waitress asked if we'd like some. Just an all over poor experience. Between staff attitude and food preparation we will likely not come back. They can and...
