Nutmeg Cafe — Restaurant in Washington Township

We have been here a few times over the last two years, but won’t be coming back because of our last experience. We came in to order, and I guess the barista didn’t like that I gave her both my husband and my orders (instead of letting him speak for himself?) because she was disdainful toward me the whole time. I truly do not know what else could have set her off, as I’m pretty meek and polite whenever I speak to anyone. I told her which drinks we wanted and at the end of my drinks order he asked for an orange scone. She was very irritated when she asked if we wanted hot or iced drinks and whether I wanted my matcha sweetened. Then instead of asking “Can I have a name for the order?”, she deliberately pointed to my husband and said, “and what’s YOUR name?” Then after he paid (with my credit card), she said, “Thank you, MR. (HIS NAME)”. She then got the scone and slammed it down on the counter in front of me, despite my husband being the one who ordered it, and rolled her eyes when I didn’t take it but offered it to my husband. The thing is, my husband only comes here when I want to go. He wouldn’t go here on his own and we absolutely will never be back.

The rest of the staff was nice. The drinks were same as usual- not earth shattering but fine.

It was our first time at Nutmeg Cafe and it was a great experience! The server behind the counter was so helpful in providing us with help and suggestions! We had the almond torte and coffee cake, both were amazing! The almond torte was so moist. The sandwich however was soooo good. They mentioned that they homemade the English muffin!! It was buttery and crunchy on the outside. The sausage and egg were so flavorful! I wish we lived closer because I would be ordering that breakfast sandwich every day! They also had a special of the Strawberry Bread Pudding, and that was to die for as well! I visited for the first time today and immediately had to write a review. I came in with my kids and husband and we were welcomed. They went above and beyond for my kids by making them some scrambled eggs! It was so kind and wonderful to have the staff care so much about making the experience wonderful for my toddlers! The food was absolutely delicious. I love quiche and the ham and cheddar didn’t disappoint. It was served hot and savory. The drink and flavor selection is wonderful. There is something for everyone.
