Updated 6/8/22: If I'm nothing else, I'm fair. I am adding an update. We have given this bakery another chance and I'm glad we did. Although the chocolate croissant lacked flavor and the almond croissants were all burnt... We did enjoy the Morning Bun and the Kouign-Amann. Excellent flavor, texture, moisture, consistency. I added a star. We will be back, hoping for less burnt and more yum.
Disappointed! Went to try the challah bread and it was subpar at best. Granted I'm from NYC and have had actual, authentic challah so I'm pickier than most. First off, it was/is burnt. Ok, that's the fault of my significant other because she could have asked for a loaf that wasn't burnt. But why put out burnt bread to begin with? Once you get to the center of a slice there is decent flavor but again, too dense. Maybe because it was over baked? Mostly, it tasted like bread that was burned. For $10 I had expected better. Apparently the staff was super nice and the place was clean which is why it's 2 stars and not 1. The signage is lacking too. Maybe because they just moved in? You are on a busy street, throw up a handwritten sign on bright paper to show the entrance and that you're open. We try to support local businesses and we will give these folks another chance. But round one, very...
Read morePulling up I wasn't sure what to expect since it's wedged between two businesses and has rollup garage doors as the face of the bakery. Once inside the vibe proved to be almost as good as the dangerously delicious treats. The staff are welcoming, fun, eager to help and proud of the goodies they get to hand out all day. The bread and pastries smell so divine the senses are on overload while trying to decide which picture perfect treat will be selected. I bought 24 pastries for my team. Everyone was impressed by the portion size and flavor with two exceptions: my gluten free crew who wished for something equally pretty to eat. I tried the spinach and feta roll. The crust was light and buttery. The inside was a bit more dry than expected, but eating it 3 hours after I picked it up is likely the reason. To learn the owners give leftovers to Maslow and other non profits is icing on the cake. Glad to see a farmers market vendor be successful enough to have a store front. Highly recommend especially for a cool...
Read moreI admit I’m spoiled having lived in New York, San Francisco and the Wine Country in Napa Valley, CA. I’m so thrilled that Coquette has come to Central Point. I haven’t tried everything but can report on what I have tried. The cherry croissant and chocolate croissant were very good. The crust might be a little over done at times but very good all the same. The cheese and ham croissant were excellent. In the French tradition, it appears the pastries are made with minimal sugar and butter as they should be. Their breads are marvelous. As a constructive suggestion, my friend and I tried the sandwiches on their great bread, however we both felt it didn’t work for sandwiches and was difficult to chew as well as too much bread proportionally in the sandwich. How about baking a special French roll just for sandwiches with some embellishments. This is a gem of a bakery that brings to Central Point some special talent with a great staff servicing...
