Manna Bistro — Restaurant in Virginia

This is my first time having Ethiopian food, and I will say 5 stars for the food. It was abundant and delicious, and I will definitely come back for more.

The only thing that might improve is the set-up, as I was confused when I came in, b/c it didn't have that bakery atmosphere (no displayed bakery items...or if there was, I missed them), and the menu on the wall seemed to highlight South American cuisine. I had to ask about the Ethiopian food to be given a menu to choose from.

I'm not particularly picky about atmospheres, particularly w/international foodie places, so long as it is clean (enough), but to be fair to my 5-star reviewed places, if Manna Bistro just made it a little clearer about what is available and how to get it, I'd give the extra star to them, no bells/whistles required.

Regardless, I'd def return and recommend, particularly to order the sampler vegetable platter.

(I want to note that I had walked in here before, but was so confused and not greeted by anyone to help guide me, that I just turned around and walked back out. This time, I stayed and followed through trying to figure it out b/c of the good reviews, and I had time to kill waiting for my order for food...

So a while ago I would have said that I would give 4 stars to this restaurant. I and my spouse would eat here all the time especially when I was pregnant. We would order 2 vegetarian 🥗 platters for 2 and the portions were good. We have since moved out the area and came back because we had appointments near by. We ordered two vegetarian platters for two for ourselves and our twins and paid for the equivalent of 4 meals but only received 2 meals and they were definitely not portions for 4 adults. They were the size of the individual portion of vegetarian platters when you order it. The service is never as good when the sister is in charge and the owner is not present. I often leave and don’t order when the owner isn’t there. She tried to convince is that the amounts in the containers were for 4 people. The only thing that was enough for four Pepe was the injera. Horrible experience!! I ordered the chicken tibs that comes with salad but only got the chicken. I ordered to add broiled eggs cause I know the beef has it so I wanted it on my meal but no egg. All I got was just chicken. What am I supposed to do with just chicken? And then when I call to let them know about my order, the lady is rude and hangs up on me. I tried calling back and she keeps on ignoring my calls. I call back for the 7th time and a guy picks up and also hangs up on me. Horrible experience with the food and customer service. I threw this whole food away! Do better and if you can’t get an item on the menu to reflect the order on DoorDash then remove the order until you can. The lady also said to come and pick up the order. If I ordered through DoorDash, what makes you think I have time to go and pick up a salad? Straight horrible!!!’ $30 down the trash and now I gotta order from somewhere...
