Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que — Restaurant in Cerritos

On December 1, 2018 (Saturday), I placed a reservation for 10 people in person at Lucille’s in Cerritos. I could have placed the reservation by phone but decided to go in person to avoid any mix-ups. I drove to Lucille’s and arrived before 12pm and luckily, they were able to accommodate my reservation at 6pm. I was told if I wanted, I could place a food order. I agreed and placed the following order: -Beef Rib Platter -Backyard Family Feast Sides (Extra) • Macaroni and Cheese (1/2 gallon) • Mashed Potatoes (1/2 gallon) I went on my way delighted and confirmed with my guest that we would meet at Lucille’s for dinner to celebrate my nephew’s 18 birthday (my treat). Until recently I have enjoyed coming to Lucille’s over the years for the food and the service. Unfortunately, after our visit this past Saturday, this view has changed for me. This past Saturday, instead of the usual welcoming, pleasant, and excellent service I encountered the opposite. First, the table was crowded for a group of ten people and we were located all the way at the end; which apparently resulted in the waitress (Ashley) forgetting to check on us. After ordering our drinks I asked Ashely to let my nephew see the menu, I told him to choose anything he wanted since he was the birthday boy. He ordered the following: -fried green tomatoes -BBQ Two Meat Combo To my surprise the food I had previously ordered ahead of time was partial which consisted of only of the following: -Backyard Family Feast (correct) -- Sides (Extra) • Macaroni and Cheese (quart) size portion wrong • Mashed Potatoes (quart) size portion wrong The food arrived in a timely manner; however, I noticed Beef Rib Platter was missing (easily noticeable). After several minutes had passed (approximately 30 min) I had to wave Ashley down. The manager politely came to the table and enquired if everything was okay. I informed her I was waiting for the Beef Rib Platter. She said, “I will go see what happened.” She came back and stated, “Beef Rib Platter was only for take-out”. I looked at her in dismay. She shrugged it off like nothing and said, “If you like I can request for 2 Beef Rib Full”. I was still in shock but agreed. I didn’t want to be confrontational since we were there to have a nice time.I don’t understand, why the manager would refuse to correct my pre-order since it was their mistake not mine. A lot of explanations came in to mind (stereotype, bias, misconceptions,etc.) Normally when I eat at Lucille’s with my family we usually order the following:4 BBQ beef ribs which consist of 7 bones and 2 side orders (mashed potatoes and mac & cheese) which totals to 28 bones compared to the Beef Rib Platter which consists of 35 bones. The only difference would be 7 bones. I was never told the Beef Rib Platter was only for take-out. Also, when I was looking at the menu provided to me. I never come across the phrase take-out only. As an overall rating, our experience at your establishment was not near what we had come to expect from Lucille’s. Hopefully you will be able to return to your previous level...

Okie dokie i have been looking forward to coming here for a while i received a gift card for this place and i was eager to try it out. I had made a reservation for 2 at 8:15 i arrived at 8:13 and was sat at 8:17 which is great considering the walk in wait was 1 hour 45 mins but when i was seated i was pretty annoyed that my view was of the restroom and the kitchen but i made the most of it and me and my husband sat on the same side of the booth to avoid seeing the restroom. The waiter Nancy was so nice i really enjoyed her enthusiasm she was great i know it was super busy i felt like maybe she had a lot on her plate, my husband went almost his whole meal waiting on his refill of soda but she did get it eventually but other than that she was great. Now on to our food first off the kitchen staff was great i could see everything that was going on i got all my food pretty quickly and as for the taste let me just say "wow" it was so amazing i ordered the BBQ bacon burger my husband got the Tri Tip sandwich we split them each in half so we could try both my burger was delicious cooked exactly how i like medium rare, the Tri Tip was not good looking and i was kind of hesitant to try it but when i did, i ate the whole thing it tasted so good it was stuff with meat the flavors were just amazing. We also got the spinach artichoke dip it was good i loved that they put tomatoes on top instead of onion, but it lacked flavor me and my husband bothed agreed on this. All in all the place is great don't go on Saturday night if your impatient, if you ask for a reservation make sure to ask for a good seat away from the restrooms, and don't get artichoke dip from a BBQ spot. I love Lucille’s food overall, so when I have a taste for bbq/beef ribs, they are first on the list, but I have been noticing that they are highly inconsistent. I can go here one day and it’s great, then the next time it’s not so great. I always order the 5 beef rib and was told they no longer carry the 5 only the 3 or the 7. Of course the 7 rib is more expensive, $65, hadn’t been in some time so decided to order the 7. Idk what’s going on with the quality of the cut of ribs, but it’s horrible, you are not getting what you are paying for. I spent almost $200 on ribs (two orders of 7 beef ribs and one order of baby back ribs) and was mad disappointed at the beef bone ribs. Every time we order beef ribs they are already pre-cut for us, so it was a surprise that the 7 ribs were not cut, they just gave us the slabs. Cutting into the ribs I realized why they were not cut, it was all bone and fat, barely any meat, and not cooked well enough. We ordered to go so about time we got home to sit down and eat, we were very disappointed. Literally picking over the ribs to find any meat. I never leave reviews, but I am so mad and feel like I wasted my money. The sides were okay this time around and the lemonades were good. I wanted to call the store and complain, but just took it as a loss. The service is always nice, everyone is welcoming and attentive. If I decide to order again from here, guess it will no longer be...
