So my review is not for the food but rather for the service. Here is what happen.
We came here after having a dinner somewhere else. We asked the hostess if we can sit outside and we only want coffee and desserts. Not a problem, they took our names down and told us its a 40 minute wait and we will get a call. That was not a problem for us, we just walked around Chagrin Falls.
We got the call that our table was ready, came back to the restaurant and were promptly seated. The restaurant and their patio is very warm and inviting. From what it seems, this used to be a big house and it was redone to be a restaurant. So it was a great start
We ordered 3 desserts - Brigadeiros (chocolate bon bons), Petite Gateau (Warm Chocolate Cake w/ Vanilla Ice Cream) and Coconut Butter Cake (With Creme Anglaise, Whipped Cream and Toasted Coconut). Desserts on its own were ok, nothing spectacular. But probably would not get those desserts again but try something different...maybe
But here is where it all went down hill. It seems that they just start rushing us from the minute they dropped off the desserts, they were trying to clean out our plates before we finished the dessert, they were taking our coffee cups away while we were having coffee and tea and kept coming back to our table to the point were were not able to have a conversation. As soon as we were done with our desserts, without asking us if we want anything else, the bill was dropped off.
As we were paying the bill, our wives went inside to say hi to another couple that we knew. At this point, one of the servers or managers came up to us and said there is another party here and they were waiting for over an hour and if we mind clearing out the table. That was just offensive. I understand they need to turn the tables to make money but kicking people out who are sitting and having a conversation, even if they paid the bill, is not the way to go. If they didn't want us to be there just for coffee and dessert, they can tell us. But don't kick us out.
Such a service experience left a really bad taste and disappointment. Its a shame, because I really enjoyed the food and service at their other location. If I am invited by someone to come back here, I will. However, I won't...
Read moreI was torn between 3 and 4 stars. We had dinner here on Feb 12 so you can imagine it was kind of busy. To start the restaurant is cute and quaint, very castle turned restaurant. We were seated near the door and with the winter breeze it was very drafty, it would be nice if they offered a blanket to cover your legs. The staff was pleasant a little rushed, I assume it was due to the busy night. Started with mussels (Marisco Lambe-Lambe) and Pao De Queijo (Brazilian cheese bread), we could've went without the cheese ball-esqe bread. They were kind of a rubbery cheese gnocchi texture. The bread that came with the mussels was much better. The amount of mussels is definitely worth it, four people could eat one order. We ordered Picanha Acebolada(steak and Brazilian salad) and Mariscada (seafood dish with sweet cream sauce). Food was hot, fresh, flavorful and easy on the eyes. The serving size is fair for the price in an upscale restaurant, but I'm not a fan of having to remove my own shrimp tails and get my hands messy. The Rio-Tini I was sipping helped because it was delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection and could be cut with a butter knife. For dessert we had the Brigadeiros (chocolate bon bons), these are very rich but also very good so be careful. We also ordered the Coconut Butter Cake which was pretty basic. The cake was more pound cake like and the icing isn't very fancy, it's a sweet treat but nothing to exciting. Dinner for 2 cost about $150 bucks give or take a few and depending on what you order. We would try it again, sit upstairs or in another location and order something different... oh and...
Read moreWe went here to celebrate a family member's birthday (4 adults). First time here, and it was awesome. Really enjoyed it, and they treated us very well. The food was delicious and the service was superb. It was expensive, but I knew that going in, so I wasn't too surprised. If you stop reading here, I highly recommend it, but understand it's more expensive that many places. It was perfect for that special occasion.
Our server recommended the better dishes on the menu, and how authentic they are (some dishes are not as authentic in case someone doesn't really want that degree of authenticity). We ended up getting a pitcher of a drink that was Brazilian, but I cannot remember what it was called - lots of limes in it, and man, was it awesome! I got the sea bass, and it was probably the best fish dish I ever had, and I love seafood.
We got appetizers and desserts, but everything we got was authentic. It was all great, and zero complaints. While I did not ask for this, a few of the wait staff sang happy birthday in Portuguese and they brought a small birthday treat. Later, the manager stopped over to thank us for coming. I did not see her going to other tables, so she made a special trip just for us.
All in all, a great place for that...
