I stayed at a Courtyard in Champaign Illinois on 5/28-5/31. Upon arrival the lobby appeared to be clean and the clerk was very nice. I was told that we would have to be in a room that had a king sized bed with a pull out and a roll away even though I requested a room with 2 queen beds. That was fine however we never did receive the rollaway bed. The room appeared to be clean but we did notice the floor in the bathroom was sticky. That’s when things went downhill. I grabbed one of the glasses to get a drink from and noticed it had a chip in it and was cracked. So I grabbed the other glass. It had a residue and looked like it haven’t been cleaned. I then grabbed one of the coffee mugs. I was HORRIFIED to find IT HAD LIPSTICK ON THE INSIDE OF THE RIM! Obviously whoever “cleaned” only wiped down the outside of the cup! It does not end there. I was on the bed and the light next to me flickered and turned off. That’s when I found the FIRE HAZZARD where the light was plugged halfway into the socket because the bed was in the way not allowing it to plug in completely. The seal to the bathroom shower leaked and water got all over the bathroom floor which in turn became extremely slippery and a safety hazard. To top our stay off, while riding the elevator you could hear water pouring down the elevator shaft and there was water on the floor when we got out on the main floor. We alerted the front desk that morning and it appeared nothing had been done when we came back to our room around 4 that evening. It was not until around 11 we noticed a sign was finally put up alerting of a wet floor and to not use the elevator. To say that I am disappointed with my stay is an understatement.I have pictures of the glasses and fire hazard if you would like them. I do hope you look further into the situation and train your employees better in regards to cleaning. Your website sates that you are taking extra measures with cleaning and that sanitizing wipes would be in the room. There were none in our room. Unfortunately I can’t say I’m not surprised. I was told that someone would be in contact with me about the issues I had but it’s been a week and I have yet to hear...
Read moreI hope the manager reads all reviews because this is worth the read 😊Overall my stay was great! The front desk agent was super friendly, and accommodating! I really enjoyed my room, and how spacious it was! To me it was luxurious, because I was taking some time for myself... mostly for peace and quiet. The bed was comfortable! I wish there was an actual bath tub instead of just a shower but it was still very nice! In saying that however, I did ask to be moved to a different floor because for some reason I was put on a floor with a numerous amount of kids. In my previous experience working in the Hotel Business you should never put an adult traveling alone or a couple on the floor that is going to be surrounded by children and a lot of noise! After all, I was there for a little mini vacation, and did not want to hear kids jumping and running down the hallway right in front of my door! Lol! The service agent was apologetic and super nice and offered to move me! So in that aspect I really appreciated her friendliness, and offering to move me no questions asked! It was a little inconvenient that I had to move ...I understood that it was just a mishap, and as long as I was able to get peace and quiet and get well deserved rest I was happy! I didn't care for the dinner if I'm being honest. It was just OK. And not worth the cost! Maybe it was just what I ordered. Now break fast was Great!! The restaurant staff was AMAZING!! Both A.M and P.M! They Offered to bring my food up to my room! And the night worker had No idea how to make the drink I wanted but looked it up and worked with me on making it great and she did a great job! Everyone was just so genuinely nice! It seems to be a rarity in all places these days ! I can't remember the names of the ladies that worked in the morning, and evening in the restaurant but PLEASE look it up and tell them how grateful I was to receive such great friendliness! This makes the stay so worthwhile! I'll definitely stay...
Read moreThe problem was fixed by the management. When I took a shower in the morning, the tub wasn't draining. I asked to have that fixed. It was fixed, but when I went back to the room that evening, there was stuff splattered on the walls, toilet, floor, picture, and probably the towels. I'm assuming that it was from the person that fixed the tub. Lynn from management was very apologetical, and took care of issue promptly. She even provided a free breakfast which is very much appreciated.
The only reason why I'm even bringing this up, is because the prior weekend I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot in Provo, UT. Beautiful hotel, but 1 soap, and ran out of toilet paper (a room for 2), the coffee only had 1 Caffeinated, and 1 Decaf... Not even enough for 2 people to have regular coffee. The Champaign location didn't even have body lotion.
It just seems to me that the attention to detail is lacking with the hotel chain, and I also get the impression of the Courtyard being cheap, which I don't understand, because I would have not associated that word with your organization.
I travel frequently, and by no means am picky. This time I am. And hopefully this will help you pay attention to detail for frequent travelers. Sincerely. PS - The staff was very friendly, and helpful. (but so are some of the other hotels, whom splurge with free breakfast, extra soap, toilet paper, lotion, coffee, and maintenance on tubs so that "tub matter" doesn't end up all over...
