We (Three of us, My wife, my grand nephew, and I) celebrated Labor Day in the most delicious way possible — at the newly opened Bikanerwala in Chandler, Arizona, and what a treat it turned out to be! This franchise carries with it the rich legacy of authentic Indian flavors, and to its credit, every dish we tasted lived up to that reputation.
We began with Mango Lassi and Jal Jeera. The lassi was thick, creamy, wiyh pieces of real mango in it and refreshingly sweet with the natural richness of mango, almost like dessert in a glass. The jal jeera was the perfect contrast — tangy, spicy, and zingy, waking up the taste buds for what was to come.
Then came the dish that stole our hearts — the Raj Kachori. Aptly called the “king of chaats,” it was an experience in itself. A giant, crisp kachori generously filled with yogurt, chutneys, sev, sprouts, and pomegranate — every bite brought together crunch, creaminess, tang, and spice in perfect harmony. Truly, a royal indulgence!
For the main course, we opted for their thali, which was both lavish and comforting. The butter naan was pillowy and perfectly charred, pairing beautifully with the dishes. The malai methi mutter was creamy, rich, and easily my favorite — the sweetness of peas balanced with the earthy bitterness of fenugreek was spot on. The baingan bharta carried that signature smoky flavor and a homestyle touch, reminding me of kitchens back in India. The accompaniments of rice and boondi raita tied the plate together with cooling freshness.
We also tried the Channa Bhatura, and it tasted just as authentic. The bhaturas came out perfectly puffed, soft yet slightly crisp at the edges, and the Punjabi-style choley were rich, spicy, and cooked to perfection — exactly how it’s served in the North. Together, they brought back memories of Delhi and Amritsar streets.
And just when we thought we couldn’t eat another bite, i noticed the dessert — the warm, melt-in-your-mouth moong dal halwa. Fragrant with ghee and cardamom, it was decadent yet comforting, the perfect sweet ending to a royal spread.
Bikanerwala Chandler has very quickly established itself as one of the best Indian restaurants in the Valley, combining authenticity with quality in every dish. From chaat to thali, everything was prepared with care and bursting with genuine North Indian flavors.
Without hesitation, this is a solid 5-star experience. A place I’ll happily return to, again and again, if they maintain the same...
Read moreNever thought I will write a review - BUT -- IT WAS A TOTAL DIAPPOINTMENT (I Love Good Food that's why drove even 70 miles - and finally NO MORE BIKANERWALA CHAT or FOOD ITEMS waste of my time & money)
It was Third time today we went (Hoping few things which were not RIGHT the first two times - could be a reason of being a New Store and people are gearing up). Sharing my personal experience point wise (many of the people might have great experience and MANY those who value their time, money and hunt for good food / food loving people, will agree with me)
** It's a new location - chat kind of place was missing in Phoenix, no doubts it will pull crowed. (It's a matter of pride that people from India have soft heart and LIVE the memories of India by eating Chat / Dahi Puri - Bhatura etc.) ** It's typical with food business houses (especially Indian - if the investor / owners feels that now that this business has picked up - they then don't care on quality or the Dish to be served appropriately - COZ they know people will go and eat - no matter what - (as it's also a kind of BREAK - Get Away from hectic schedule for many ) WHAT WAS NOT RIGHT: Chole along with Bhatura was served cold - even after request - replacement was equally cold - result - LEFT IT - Did not eat Coming to Pao Bhaji - - Both were not the way Pao Bhaji should be served can say - Lukewarm. Deluxe Thali - Oh my God - Pre-cooked Nan & Lachcha Parataha - was so chewie - as it was not properly HEATED UP - TANDORRI NAAN - it's JUST AN EYE WASH RUSH HOUR (weekends - & SUNDAYS) - One is lucky who order COLD ITEMS - like Dahi Papadi , Dahi Bhalle- Dahi Kachori And If ordering HOT Dishes - Like THALI / PAO BHAJI - CHOLEW BHATURE be ready to Eat - COLD FOOD.
YES - I can give 100% on SWEETS they...
Read moreMy recent experience at this restaurant left me thoroughly disappointed. I ordered tandoori paneer platter and raj kachori to go. The food was ready within minutes which was a pleasant surprise. Little did I know I was in for an adventurous lunch hour. When I got home and unpacked everything, I realized that the restaurant had forgot to pack the garlic naan so I called them. I tried the paneer which was cold, almost frozen. I went to the restaurant to grab the garlic naan and told them about the cold paneer. They 'remade' the paneer and gave it to me with the naan. When I got back home to finally eat my lunch, I realized the paneer was so hard, it was almost unappetizing--hard to the point where it was barely edible. I could not cut the paneer as it was so hard, I had to throw it away. For anyone that knows their paneer knows that paneer microwaved for too long tends to become hard, almost rock solid! The chutney and lemon that came along with the paneer were steaming hot as well which indicated that the entire tray was microwaved.
When I called to inform them of the issue, hoping for a resolution, I was met with indifference. The staff refused to take ownership of the mistake and offered no compensation or even an apology. The only response I got out of them was that they 'microwave' the food for takeout orders! Customer service was dismissive and unhelpful, making it clear that they had no interest in making things right.
With so many great Indian restaurants in the area, I won't be returning here. Food quality and basic courtesy both matter, and unfortunately, this place failed on both fronts.
This is an overhyped 'mithai' shop, I would not call it an Indian...
