TLDR; Sushi was okay, they have a tendency to put cheese on a lot of rolls. Friends said the sashimi was average. Service and atmosphere was...not good.
Met up with a few friends here. The waitress was nice to us until she told us about the entire table having to pay for the same AYCE tier. If one person wants the highest tier, everyone has to pay that price. Wasn't great for the people who didn't want AYCE in the first place and who didn't want to pay $40+ to eat a single roll. She wouldn't serve us until we agreed on the AYCE selection, so we asked if we could just sit at the next table over and order separately. She scoffed at us but agreed...Then she never came back to the table who wasn't ordering AYCE. Half the group sat there for about 20 minutes trying to flag her down, but she continued to ignore us. It was definitely intentional as she was still servicing the AYCE table that was DIRECTLY NEXT TO US and they weren't busy at the time lol. No one took our order until a new waitress came in for her shift another 15 minutes after the 20, and even then we had to call her over just to ask for a menu.
In total, we waited for about 1 hour until we could get food. The AYCE table was already halfway through their courses.
And lastly, there is a particular sewer drainage smell in the restaurant? If you've lived in AZ for a while, you know that smell when you walk past a sewer drain after a monsoon. Specifically, the smell of an open dried out pipe that's suddenly flushed with water. Now mix that smell with the fishiness of thawed out raw seafood.
Was definitely awkward trying to catch up with friends with a 6 ft gap between our tables, the sewer blasted in our face, and the ironic lack of food. To Crazy Tuna, idk what you've been through, girl. But you do not trust your customers enough for them to have separate orders. Most people are grown adults (except for that one review who had to pay AYCE for a child sorry). It's normal for people to share maybe 1-2 pieces of sushi to try. But if you see that they're sharing a whole plate, then just politely tell them they'd have to pay two separate AYCE orders. I don't think you need to force the entire table to...
Read moreHands down worst service and sushi my wife and I have ever had. We came in very hungry and craving sushi. We decided to try the AYCE option. We ordered three rolls, miso, and the stuffed mushroom appetizer. The miso was good but that was it. The rolls were absolutely horrible. The fish tasted awful. Not fresh by any means.the rolls completely fell apart, as you picked them up. All in. All just horrible. My wife about 15 minutes after trying her first bite ended up sick in the truck.
In regards to the service, we never got refills on our waters, the waitress never checked in with us too see how the food was, and we had to go up to the one of the gentleman working by the sushi bar to get our waitresses attention when we wanted to get the check. There was maybe 4 tables in the entire place and they were not busy at all.
Keep in mind most all you can eat sushi places charge a 20% fee if there’s leftover food to make sure people don’t order and waste food which is understandable. When the waitress brought the check she said “since it’s your first time here we won’t charge you the 20%”. I couldn’t help but laugh because what we ordered was not even close to the AYCE price and we couldn’t even take more than a bite of each roll. it was so bad that I mentioned there wouldn’t be any leftover food to charge the fee for if it was any good. I expressed that no one came and asked how the food was, nor did they offer to remake the roll or try and make the situation right.
I can eat about 5-6 rolls by myself and I could barely finish one bite of the three rolls we ordered.
Save yourself your time and hard earned money and go somewhere else. They clearly don’t care about service or food...
Read moreOne Sunday afternoon my boyfriend and I decided to get Sushi. I saw Crazy Tuna featured on a foodie Instagram page and liked that they had the all you can eat, made to order option (NOT a buffet). When we arrived at the slightly sketchy strip mall, I was immediately nervous. Upon entering the Crazy Tuna, I was pleasantly surprised to see it was quite nice (and clean). We were greeted right away and only had a short wait for a table. The server explained how the menu and all you can eat service worked and brought us waters. I was pleased with the overall all service as they checked on us and our waters never were empty. However, the star of the show was definitely the food. Boy oh boy! My only regret is that my stomach couldn't hold more. We ordered shrimp tempura (1 order comes with 2 pieces of shrimp) and a crab boat (1 order comes with 4 pieces). Both were so delicious. We both ordered two rolls each. I didn't try my bfs rolls but they looked amazing. I was so surprised that they were full a$$ rolls. They certainly did not skimp. I ordered the crunch roll and the baked seafood dynamite roll. The baked roll took the longest to come out but everything else came out pretty quick. I don't have a single complaint about the food. It was flavorful, looked beautiful, and they did not skimp on anything. Very satisfied and will definitely return! Also, this may not be important to some people but they had clean bathrooms and that says something to me. I cannot stand going somewhere that has dirty/nasty bathrooms. This just shows the standard of...
