We really liked coming to Jefe’s before expanded. I used to get the prickly pear margarita, they changed their recipe and now it isn’t as sweet, it’s pretty bitter actually.
My husband really likes to get their street tacos, but you have to ask for the Cantina menu or the taco selection will be priced incredibly higher.
I have gotten their rolled tacos many times, this most recent time it was covered in powdered Parmesan. It was really strange. And then there was something really sweet and off putting about the chicken rolled tacos. My husband mentioned he had tasted a sweetness to it the time before, so I had him taste these ones and he said they were way sweeter than previously. I was super hungry and just ate them.
We do get their salsa quite often. There were a couple of times that I bought some and by the time I got home the onion in the salsa smelled foul and the salsa container would be like bubbling over? Forcing the top off the container.
Also they serve the chimichangas completely covered inside and out with mozzarella cheese, very strange choice again. So many other Mexican cheeses would be a...
Read moreThis place is great!! My friends and I happened upon here and decided to stop for their happy hour (2-6pm) and I am so glad we did!! Let’s start with the prickly pear margarita… half off for happy hour so I got two! I thought that the pale color would be indicative of low flavor…. I was so wrong! It was so refreshing, flavorful and delicious. I tried my friends regular margarita and it was so good too. I’m Arizona born and raised and living in Tucson, so I know good tacos! And these were amazing! I was so full after my birria taco and carne asada street taco. But they were so good I wanted to order more! The carne asada was seasoned and grilled to perfection. The birria was so juicy!! Then had a dipping juice for extra! Think an au jus for tacos! I ate it before I even thought to take pictures. Just trust me… you need to try this! New Managment. Albert was amazing and Gabe great suggestions and service. Training Stephanie who will be great too! I’m in town for 3 days… and I...
Read moreIf you want bang for your buck...there are better options. The food quality was avarage. The street tacos that I had were good. Nice flavor, but nothing special. Rice...small! 3-4 spoonfuls max! The beans had no flavor whatsoever. No salt no spice, nothing. I added all the salsa options to them to get anything out of it. And again, a very small serving. The bottles of salsa that were served with the tacos were pretty good. However, if anyone wanted hot salsa, I suggest sneaking it in. I don't do spicy that often, but even I was looking for more. The plate came with tortilla chips all 10 of them. I saw a trend. Service was lackluster at best. No energy nor willingness to assist. "What meat options do you have?" "Uh, they are up there on the menu" Thanks, buddy. Really helpful. For 3 street tacos, a tiny side of rice, a tastless cup of beans, a few chips and 1 glass of coke (I was never asked if I would like a refill) it came to nearly 20 bucks. I probably...
