My wife ordered bacon and eggs with gluten free toast. I ordered the bacon and avacado omelet. It has spinach, cheese, and tomatoes. Our meal came my omelet was a cheese and spinach omelet with two pieces of bacon, two pieces of cold tomato and some sliced cold avacado on top. Having had similar omelets in the past, while traveling on business in many states, I was a bit surprised at the look of the omelet and the fact that the tomato and avacado were cold, and that both of those and the bacon were not in the omelet. My wife's toast had no butter and there was no jelly on the table. We waited for about 7 minutes and saw no servers on walking around. I got up and as I walked up to the servers station met up with our server. I asked why the toast had no butter and why we werent asked if we wanted some. She said some people dont like butter so they dont butter any toast unless you ask for it.. i asked about why the tomato and avacado were cold and why they and the bacon weren't placed inside of the omelet. She said she would ask her manager. The response was that people had got sick when the avocado and tomato were placed inside and cooked. I ate my "omelet" because I was hungry after the wait for my food. The cold items with the hot omelet was not a good contrast. The food was so so at best. The service was slow and we were not asked if we wanted coffee refills until the server was taking my credit card for our bill. I guess I expected better service having eaten at the Mimis in Mesa prior. This experience has changed my9 view of Mimis for the worse. I doubt we will be back and will steer family and friends to the village inn or even Denny's. About the only saving grace is the muffin. And Mimis you...

Let me begin with saying that at least on a Saturday, the crowd is a bit older. So I can see that some of the choices made were to cater to this crowd.
I ordered the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. A risky choice at a restaurant in the middle of the desert. The dish comes with a side of potatoes, with onions, peppers, and mushrooms mixed in.
When I think of Eggs Benedict, it has three important hallmarks. Gooey poached eggs, a creamy hollandaise sauce, and a toasted English muffin. The egg was a bit over poached, but still had a gooey center. The sauce was a bit thick, over cooked but still had good flavor. The surprise was the English muffin. Too often they're hard, to compensate for the sauce and yolk that you'll get from the eggs. Nope. Soft and delicious. The salmon was good quality and capers were a good salty counterpoint, and kept everything from being just a bit too bland. Poor seasoning, overall. And a bit off on execution - 4/5. But I can see the seasoning choice with an older crowd who worry about their salt intake.
The potatoes were also similar. Everything was cut a little too big for comfortable bites, and they were underseasoned - again, probably for the older crowd and easily solved with the salt shaker. But large bites of onion are off putting. The mushrooms were tender, delicious, and browned well. A 4/5.
Lastly, thank you to the Manager who stopped by and welcomed us for our first visit and gave us complimentary muffins. Yum.
Will I come back? Absolutely. And prepared to salt...
Read moreHonestly I don’t know how this place has 4 stars on Google… I was excited to go in after seeing the 4 star rating but after actually eating here I was so disappointed. While the cafe may have a nice little ambiance to it, it definitely looks old and run down. I ordered the French toast with eggs, bacon, turkey sausage and potatoes on the side and just about all of it was extremely disappointing. The French toast was alright, it was decent enough to eat, the bacon was probably the only thing that was good on there. However the rest of the food, the eggs, sausage and potatoes just lacked flavor, completely bland, the sausage was probably the worst of it all, completely dry just like the potatoes, almost as if the food wasn’t even fresh, it tasted like as if they were leftovers and someone microwaved them because they were not even hot nor at least warm. Our waitress was okay she was friendly but didn’t really check in after we got our food. Had she checked in I probably would’ve asked for something else or for the food to be remade. $53 spent for food that probably would’ve been better from ihop for probably half the price. Maybe their dinner menu and cooks are better but as far as breakfast I was not pleased and will not be coming back. I would suggest to anyone who goes that they read all the bad reviews before going in, and to probably stick to Ihop for breakfast instead. Another reason you may want to also stay away is the ghastly smell in the bathroom, it smells so bad in both the mens and women’s restrooms it’s...
