We live about two miles from Thai Rama. We never knew it was there- but we will be back. This place has been around for awhile and the decor and seat cushions give testimony to that. I can say that the place is spotless, including the restrooms.
We got there late, and there were only a couple of occupied tables (booths). But that number tripled after 8pm on a Monday.
Now to the food: It's very good to great. I had the panang with chicken. I got mild spice level (because one never knows what that actually means until trying it). I will get the next level up next time. It was really good. Though next time I will try the Evil Princess...
My wife had the Paht Priaw Wahn (Sweet & sour) (number 19). And I was blown away by the breading (tempura-style)- it was absolutely perfect. The onion chunks could've spent another minute on the grill (they were almost raw, and quite harsh). A good rinse would've helped them. And the sauce was the best I have ever tasted. (Though the red coloring was almost fluorescent, which made me wonder.) I typically hate sweet-and-sour because it's always a lame orange (colored) sauce made with corn syrup and a little cider vinegar with tiny flecks of paprika- it's listless. This was on a different level. And that is all I will say. I'm going to share this next time.
My MIL had a red curry with pineapple. I didn't taste it because I hate pineapple unless I cut it fresh. My wife said it was good, and my MIL enjoyed it.
They served all of this with a very large bowl of white rice (which was just right for the large portions). And with a smile.
The service was great. It's a fairly simple place, and the prices are in keeping with that. And I know we'll be there again within a week or 10 days. ...
Read moreWow, I had not checked the reviews until today, as we always usually had consistently good food, however our customer service experiences have been declining and are exactly the same as so many reviewers here! There have a been a couple times that the phone was busy all night and I could only imagine that they were having phone trouble. We were not able to order at all. On like the 3rd time this happened, when the phone was busy for hours, I called the Tempe location and they said the Chandler location had gone out of business. So I ordered from Tempe with the same menu numbers as Chandler and set out for a drive. Did not get however what was expected and the Tempe store did not bother to tell us that their menu is completely different...nor did they ever fess up to the lie. A month later I called Chandler again and they happened to feel like answering I guess. I told them what happened a month earlier and that Tempe had thrown them under the bus ...got NO response. This news was not upsetting to this person. I ordered. I went to pick up and was told they were our of enough of the ingredients in one dish that they could not make it even with substitutes. We worked at it, I waited and waited...results were fair. Tonight I tried again...phone has been busy from 5:30 to 6:30 so far...on a Sunday!. Oh, wait, now it's ringing and ringing...but no answer. Guess these folks are making toooooo much money today and are not planning for tomorrow, when their customer base...
Read moreDid an order online some fried catfish and Paht Thai Chicken. about 30 minutes before I was due to pick up the order I was informed, by email, that the Paht Thai was a lunch menu item so it was cancelled and money refunded. When I tried to call, twice, I got a message that there was no response after 10 rings. Right after I hung up someone called me and said the Paht Thai was cancelled as it was not available after 3PM only the version that cost about $4 more was available, I asked why was the online menu was showing it was and was told that was not their problem. So I told them to put that on the order and it need to be the chicken and shrimp type and I was assured it would be and I double check the fried cat fish would not have any spice along with the Paht Thai as neither one of us can deal with spice. Well I picked it up, they refused to provide an amended receipt on the original. So when I got to where we were meeting to eat I found the fried cat fish soggy and very very spicy and the paht thai had nothing in it, just noodles. We tried calling twice, again, and there was no answer only a message asking for an access code. We finally gave up. I was going to bring the food back and demand a refund but with monsoon activity and a dust storm head our way decided it was not worth getting into an accident over. I would just write this review and...
