Wouldn't recommend this location at all- go 1 mile east down Highway 5 and use the drive-thru only Starbucks location at Hwy 5 and Eden Prairie Road!
Today I brought a personal cup in so I can complete my last Odyssey task to get the Doing Good stamp. Starbucks rewards customers with 10 cents off and 25 bonus stars for being eco-friendly with your own cup. After not so much as a hello or smile from the guy behind the counter, I placed my order for a refresher drink in my personal cup that I placed halfway down the counter towards him. After he said anything else? He asked if I wanted it in that cup. I said I did. He stared at the screen and couldn't figure out how to do the personal cup so after 10 seconds or so of staring and not punching in Personal Cup, he charged me the full price with no cup discount. I suspected and checked my order on the app and sure enough, he did not push the button. I bring it to his attention explaining I need it coded as a Personal Cup order or I will not get credit for the Odyssey task and won't get the NFT stamp to which he and the manager acted like I was an inconvenience never acknowledging the error or apologizing. He literally overcharged me 10 cents, cost me 25 bonus stars and and cost me the completion to receive the NFT stamp. He didn't care. Both the guy and manager were not friendly at all.
My last trip to this same Starbucks, I had to wait several minutes while the girl behind the counter dealt with a customer whose mom called in complaining. The girl behind the counter handed her several gift cards and was very apologetic for the mistake. While this certain employee showed empathy and apologized, that was NOT my experience today with these two different employees. It also begs the question, how many times do they make errors if two times in a row I see mistakes their employees make?
It appears this location needs a lot more training and some customer service skill refreshers. If the guy didn't know how to ring in a personal cup, he should have asked any of the several staff behind the counter instead of just saying F it, I don't care. Starbucks Odyssey is Starbucks' next big thing and the staff should be aware of how to ring in a simple cup if they are promoting how eco-friendly they are.
I don't recommend this location at all. Besides bad customer service and long wait times, the parking is a nightmare. The spots directly in front of the store are at the end of the parking lot and you have to U-turn to avoid the drive-thru one-way. Very awkward with snow banks and limited visibility.
Only one mile east on the corner of Hwy 5 and Eden Prairie Road has a super fast drive-thru and the employees are SO friendly and nice! I would have went there if they had an option to use a personal cup in...
ย ย ย Read moreI don't normally share reviews unless the problematic or exceptional service is consistent. I also only provide feedback in hopes it gives places a chance to improve (or continue) its practices in a way that will benefit the business.
This Starbucks location has been consistently, and exceptionally slow with orders ever since I moved to Chanhassen. Additionally, they get orders wrong more than they bet them right.
When they first opened the location, I tried to give them grace for new staff, systems, and set up. But that grace has expired. I avoid this location at all cost, usually preferring to go to eden prairie.
I would encourage management to inspire a "get with it" attitude with the staff that continues to seem fazed, confused about what they're doing, or disinterested in working. There aren't business professionals that would love to grab a coffe on the go, but will refuse to do so when the cost on their time exceeds the benefit of the drink. Over the weekend, my wife and I decided to give it anther try, but my expectations were not only met, but exceeded as I waited over 8 minutes for pumpkin spice latte, and longer (at least 12 minutes) for a sandwich.
I would love to see this location snap out of it and provide the same attention to their customers as other locations seem...
ย ย ย Read moreIโve been a loyal Starbucks customer for years, but unfortunately, thereโs one employee at the Chanhassen location who has made the experience consistently unpleasant. Sheโs an older woman with long brown hair who typically works the drive-thru, and every interaction Iโve had with her has come with attitude. No greeting, no friendliness, just a cold or rude tone.
Most recently, 3/28/25, I asked her to scan my Starbucks card so I could collect stars, and she told me, โyou donโt get stars by scanning that card,โ and proceeded to argue with me about it. How do I not get stars on my Starbucks gold card? Iโve used that same process at plenty of other locations without issue, so it was frustrating, but honestly, not surprising based on my past experiences with her.
Whatโs even more disappointing is that she used to work at the Chaska location years ago, and I stopped going there back then for the exact same reason. HER! When I realized sheโd moved to Chanhassen, I gave it another try, but after multiple negative interactions, Iโve stopped going here too. Itโs always something with her, and itโs a shame because this store could be great otherwise.
Friendly, respectful service goes a long way, and sadly, thatโs been missing every time sheโs...
