I was pleasently suprised after I visited Longhorn in Chantilly, VA. because the last time I went (which was several years ago, no kidding it was thst bad) the steak was simply horrible. It looked and tasted like it was fried in pan as opposex to their "fire grillled" motto. I vowed to not return for a long, long time and I did just that.
This visit I was dreading but was trying to have an open mind hoping things got better because the other steak houses were jammed packed with waits well over 45 minutes. Was I glad we went.
I ordered the Delmonico, medium, with a salad and upsold to the sphagetti squash w/ cheese. Although the steak was a tad light on medium cook it was really good. Grill fired, tender and very tasty.
The salad was larger than average and the vegetables tasted pretty fresh with lots of cut cucumber, cheery tomato and iceberge lettuce. The Ranch dressing was great, I will say.
The squash came out baked/cooked with skin still on it holding the spaghetti string on top of it (never had it that way but ok) topped with parmesan cheese. Although , it was a little moist and "masshy" for my taste it still tasted good. The cheese topping made it although I think it contributed to the masshy, compressed texture.
The service also improved from our last visit with frequent stops from the staff on drink refills, apps, salad and status. Also the wait time was at least half the time (15-20 minutes). Same furniture and surroundings with old west pictures and other nic nacks.
I'm sorry I don't have pictures but I really, really didn't think I would even be doing this review but Longhorn deserves it because it's apparent to me they have worked out their problems and now serve a pretty decent steak meal (or maybe I am full of myself and simply caught a really bad night last visit? Who knows?).
Pricing was nothing out of the ordinary than any of the other steakhouse chains so be prepared for at least fifty pending appetizers, drinks and desserts for a couple dining.
Hopefully when we return someday we'll get the same great...
Read moreI travel the U.S. for work & have a tremendous amount of exposure & experience in regard to restaurant staff, personalities, genuine customer service. When I entered the Chantilly area, Longhorn Steakhouse was one of my first stops - definitely the first restaurant stop! While there, I was greeted by a friendly staff, served amazing food, & tested the employees’ knowledge of the menu by asking questions I already knew the answers from numerous Longhorn experiences. Despite a great staff (overall) one employee stood above the rest. I've had the pleasure of being a patron of the section she is often assigned to during my routine lunch/dinner schedule. Kennedy has been the reason I return! No offense to Longhorn as their food & service are great! However, in addition to the similar drinks & menu items being served at various locations, it comes down to the atmosphere: welcoming smiles, remembering prior orders, & warm personality that makes you feel welcomed & appreciated. Kennedy, Sam, Chris, Olivia, & others have made me feel appreciated. Despite residing in a region with one of the most diverse ethnic food selections in the United States, my continual return to Longhorn is a testament to the outstanding staff. So, if you enter the Chantilly, VA Longhorn Steakhouse & have the pleasure of being greeted by Kennedy (smile) because you are about to be taken care of by the best: a customer-centered, charismatic, & attentive member of their team… you are one of...
Read moreI'm utterly torn on what any review should be about. Is it about the food, the service-staff, the experience, or all of above? Let me explain: Food: 2 stars Service-staff: 5 stars Atmosphere: 1 star
As for the service-staff, I wish you worked at many of my fav food joints because I would be willing to tip 30-35% for the attention and care provided at Longhorn. So yea, the service-staff is certainly pulling their weight for this review.
As for the food, I felt like every edible ingredient was sourced from the Walmart down the road. The medium sirloin was dry and pink. My favorite items to eat were the fried brussel sprouts and fully dressed baked potatoes. If anything, the convenience factor makes up nearly all the value of the bill as most items can be easily made better at home with a little practice.
As for the atmosphere, well, if you want to be transported to some stereotypical & dated western theme park, then this is your place.
Upon walking through the front door, the feeling of eating in a 1990s western steak commercial immediately hypnotized my mind. If being saturated with hyper-stereotype-western decor including oil paintings of cowboys & cattle, western-theme wall lamps & wall paper, all while being bathed in biege/wood/brown/burgundy color palette is part of your dream, then you may just love this place and...
