The hotel has been great with my experience here! I’ve been here a week and have one more week here! Customer service is wonderful! Everyone is extremely professional and curious! Nothing bad about my experience so far with the hotel or staff! The only issue has been parents not wanting to watch their kids! The parents have been more worried about themselves and getting drunk at the bar versus watching their kids! Apparently they were in town for hockey games and letting their children run wild in the hotel and especially the 3rd floor! They were throwing ice at doors and all over the hallway! Knocking on peoples doors! And yelling and play fighting in the parking lot! The hotel was awesome at trying to handle the situation after the many many complaints! Including myself complaining! The police were called to the hotel due to the kids and the parents of these kids lied to the hotel staff and police trying to say they were not their kids when the hotel already knew it was! Then the parents had the nerve to tell them they would not do anything about their disrespectful children unless the big screen tv in the bar was turned on so they could continue to drink and hang out with the other parents from the hockey team. I felt so bad for the hockey coach because he has no control over these disrespectful parents! The police told these people they had to leave the property but the coach begged for them all to stay because they had one more game and was so embarrassed he just about had tears in his eyes! NOW these parents mad because of their own behavior and children’s behavior and getting in trouble for it want to retaliate against this hotel by trying to leave bad reviews and saying false information about this hotel! That is called defamation of a business! It’s a pure shame grown adults can’t and won’t take responsibility for their own POOR PARENTING!!! Not to mention the neglect of their children!! These kids were almost hit by cars! They all just about ran into me and knocked me down as I got out of my vehicle after a 12hr shift at work coming into the hotel. Not one I’m sorry or excuse me! These kids have no manners whatsoever!! These so called parents should be ashamed of themselves and do something about these kids! They are literally future criminals! I am a parent myself and thank god I raised two children that have respect and manners and know how to act in public!!!! So please if you see these people’s reviews ignore them! They’re just mad that are being held accountable for hotel damage of their own children because they were more worried and concerned about getting drunk at the bar and neglecting their kids! They’re absolutely could care less for the safety of their children! They’re extremely lucky the cops didn’t handcuff them and make the parents come and claim their kids!!! I know where I come from that’s exactly what would have happened! And by the way this hotel was quiet until they arrived...
Read moreI was booked at this hotel by United after my flight from CVG to IAD was irreconcilably delayed and I missed my connection to IAD.
I hate airport hotels for a reason. They're usually not in great shape. This one was no exception. They're doing some kind of construction so the entrance was off to the side and then the way to the elevator to go up to the upper floors was super far away from the front desk. I recently had knee surgery and I was in a ton of pain by the time I got there last night, so this was less than ideal.
When I approached the desk, I was "greeted" buy a guy who looked like he'd rather be anywhere but there. I was already creeped out by the awful state of this hotel, including the dingy, dirty carpets, and the weird smell in the lobby, but this really did it.
I will say, the room was not terrible, but there was a stain on the carpeting by the bathroom that looked really suspicious and was very off-putting. Again, the whole hotel is just in a terrible state of disrepair.
This morning, I went down to the lobby to catch the shuttle at 6:30. Because of the construction, there are signs in the lobby that say "shuttle waiting area." I double checked with the same guy who was there last night, and he said, "there are pieces of paper up there to make it as obvious as possible." I patiently waited, expecting that the driver would come in and let us know he was there. He never did, and I ended up missing the 6:30 shuttle. When I talked to the front desk agent of the year, he told me that the guy "should have come in" - something the shuttle driver even admitted to me later on.
But I'm not done with this front desk guy yet. You kept going back and forth between the front desk and somewhere else, and I eventually discovered that he was over in a nook by the lobby playing video games on a big screen TV. Every once in awhile he will come back over to the desk and kick around a pen on the floor or what look like packaging from a case of water bottles. Did he pick them up and put them away? No. This guy looks abjectly lazy. I'm no lightweight myself, but he was shuffling around the lobby with his belly hanging out, looking unkempt and untrustworthy.
I'm starting to lose faith in Marriott because they seem to put their name on just about anything these days. I would definitely stay somewhere else. I had no other choice. I also got attitude from them about the shuttle pickup from the airport when I called at 11:30 at night, desperate to just get to the hotel.
I don't think I'd be happy if I worked there either, but people are staying at your hotel. The least you can do is give them decent customer service and do something to spruce the place up a bit. Who cares about the courtyard? Fix the stuff on the inside. That matters way more. And also do something...
Read moreFor the most part this is a great hotel and a great value. Good location, super comfy beds, clean rooms, spacious bathroom, lovely balcony and excellent day time staff. The major downside is the overnight front desk staff. My sister and I have had terrible experiences on several occasions with the overnight staff. We stay here regularly when in town because we love the value but try to take care of all needs before the shift change. For example, we needed extra coffee mugs one night and it took us 30 minutes (I wish that was an exaggeration), to communicate to the gentleman at the front desk what we needed and actually procure them. He first directed another staff member to get us what he thought we needed, the staff member brought us a coffee maker. When I told him that was not what we wanted, the guy stared blankly at me, walked to the front desk and started speaking in another language. I actually had to draw a picture of a coffee mug to show the guy at the front desk what we needed. A coffee mug!!!!! Not maker!!! Very frustrating indeed! On another occasion we were checking in very late at night and were actually turned away! The hotel was no where near capacity bit the gentleman at the front desk (different from the coffee mug incident) actually said that he had completed close out and did not want to sell another room. He actually directed us to the hotel across the street, which is a different brand entirely. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought that a hotel would want guests and would not want to direct guests to stay in another hotel that was not part of the Marriott family. Sure it was cheaper and an excellent value, with a complimentary breakfast, but we prefer the Marriott. It seemed to me like laziness on his part (he had a friend who was sitting in the lobby hanging out with him), or he was judging me based upon my clothes (I have a rocker chic style). I may never stay here again due to my experience. I would recommend trying to avoid dealing with the overnight staff, if at all possible. The Wingate across the street is equally nice, excellent value, and comes with a complimentary breakfast. Go...
