Good grief after walking in I didn’t want to like it here because of the owner he is so dang rude and mean😡, I opened the door he was looking at the mostly empty fridge and I said”hey how are we doin” he looks at me and growls…… really? I’m twice the size of this guy and less than half his age can’t imagine what’s going on but in an instant he vanishes! I hear a voice in the distance “I’m coming” and a nice sweet lady comes out to take my order which was a breath of fresh air at that point. I ordered the chicken biryani and it was 9.9/10, and for 15 bucks you can EASILY feed two adults. The flavor and heat is all there. If your into ethnic/Indian food this is definitely the place the only negatives 1.the old man
2.the dish should of came with naan even if the price increases
3.the chicken had chopped up bones all over (for me I’m West Indian I know how to maneuver with this cuisine but for non ethnic folk this could spell trouble) still annoying even for me.
4.I did take out however it was 81 degrees in the store while it was only 70 outside.
For me the authentic food outweighs the negatives, it’s truly a 5 but the older gentleman was out of pocket and simply uncalled for
Ok revised as of March 26,2023 this place has improved in manners and customer service 10 fold but I feel it’s under new management cause the old lady that use to cook made the food FAR spicier like I mean heat!!!! They sorta fixed the bone issue but they still have sneak bones all over. I wanted to switch the review to a 5 star for quality but I asked for naan and it was old and hard...
Read moreI had ordered Non-veg Thali and Mirchi/Chilly Bajji, and bought Mysore Paak.
The Thali comes with rice, 2 chapatis, Chicken with gravy, vegetable sabji, sambar, curd/yogurt, and a sweet (laddoo). The Thali was tasty and fulfilling.
Mirchi Bajji was hot and crispy, and filled with a masala giving it a nice distinct flavorful taste. It is quite different than the Mirchi wada that I would normally eat in India.
Mysore Paak was fresh, sweet, and crispy. I bought 10 pieces for my housemates as well.
The place is family-run, simple (no fancy interiors), clean, quiet, and reasonably priced.
Most of the items are fresh and prepared when ordered. So wait time is high than normal restaurants but it's worth it.
*If anyone plans to eat biryani, then you need to wait for 40 minutes. Else, you can let them know before you arrive.
The best part of food was it's quality and retention of authenticity. Most indian restaurants in the DMV area have to slightly Americanize the food so that it appeals everyone, but it ends up affecting the real character of the food.
I highly recommend the place to anyone wishing to taste...
Read moreWe smelled some delicious Indian food after coming out of the dentist. We googled and found this place within walking distance. I was craving butter chicken. It took a long time for the food to come out. When it finally came out, I think they got my order wrong. The butter chicken was spicy and not sweet. It had these green pieces in it, that I've never seen in butter chicken. I didn't want to offend the server, but I had to ask if it was butter chicken. He claimed it was. However, I've never tasted butter chicken like this before unless I've been lied to all my life. The noodles that my wife order were ok, but not to her taste. Overall, it did not satisfy our craving. We took our food to go and we were given clear thin plastic pastry boxes, that were not meant to hold steaming hot food. I'm sure others have great experiences here, but I'm just commenting on our experience and it left a lot...
