This place is ok but not amazing. I remember it being better. Or maybe I’ve just tasted better at other places now. They have a sign asking for cash when possible. The same as when I go places for a massage. I’m guessing because they don’t want to pay taxes. The place and clean from what I see. The food is decent but not amazing. The only thing that honestly bothered me was that when I signed the check and left, the woman at the counter called to me to come back before I got out of the door. She said I need to tip something for the waiter, which was her. I did it but it was annoying to have someone do that. Food has become so expensive and I only really tip at a fancy sit down restaurants since you really have to. Everyone is different but I never really liked tipping anywhere since food is always so expensive these days. Employers need to pay all employees more these days. The minimum wage should really be raisedx I’m sure people will tell me that I shouldn’t eat out if I’m not willing to tip all the time and it’s my own fault for eating at restaurants but this is how I feel. Plus it a real turn off to have someone yell at you to come back to give a tip. I only went to experience change but I won’t be going back since there’s a better place not too far away with more menu options like Ramen noodles and vegetables mixed the meat, and the way the waitress acted. She was fine until she yelled for me to come back and pay a tip. I’m sure I will be told that I’m not welcome back but that’s ok. They probably deserve customers that tip so I understand. I may understand but if they complain to other customers about tipping then they might lose more...
Read moreThe service is very warm and friendly here. I've eaten during a busy lunch rush and later in the evening when it's nearly empty. The staff are quick to greet and are very cheery. My food came out fast. The crispy spring rolls have a very fine texture making it a little mushy compared to others but the flavor was good, and the wrapper was crisp. The nuoc mam was lightly seasoned with what looked like chili peppers but was not spicy. A little too forward on the fish sauce to taste alone, but plenty delicious when used to dip the crispy spring rolls. I ordered the P1 Pho with extra meatballs. The broth is a lighter sweeter version. I noticed the use of more scallion whites than thin ribbons of large onions. And I believe the sweeter broth taste is partially from deeply caramelized onions. Their chili oil they serve on the side is not very hot but has a pleasant toasted flavor to the chilis that are then finely ground. It adds another layer of flavor to the broth and I highly recommend giving it a try even if you don't like spicy food. The dining area is clean and neat. There was some Caribbean cover music of 80s pop music playing in the background that seemed oddly placed but still pleasant to listen to. All in all a very good Pho restaurant and I'll be back to try some other Vietnamese dishes since it is clear the chef is trying to make their broth stand out...
Read moreThree of the four in my party order pho. Chicken, tofu, and steak. We all enjoyed. I ordered the tofu. I guess pho doesn't get flavored/seasoned tofu??idk. At least marinate it please so I can enjoy it more. Anyhow normally at any other pho when you order your bowl, they bring a separate platter for your sprouts/etc. They brought 1 platter for our three large bowls...and I do mean nice portion large bowls and expected us to share that. Anyhow I pointed to the plate and requested more. They only brought more sprouts. I said we need more everything and they then brought the rest. The lil spicy side dish that comes with it was tasty.
Side note: when order was placed they didn't ask the size of our pho and decided to assume small. I thought about it about 5 min after placing order and corrected my order for a large then found out others in my party also wanted a large. Not sure if that caused a slight delay in my order or not
The ice water was drinkable without any nasty taste . Major plus, that does not happen often at pho spots or many spots for that matter.
Worst part was the spring roll appetizer.. 3 of the 4 tasted it. 1/4 made himself eat it bc he paid for it. 2/4 we're spitting it into their napkin due to mushy consistency, lack of flavor and nothing but grease
Service was appropriate... nothing extraordinary...
