We ordered a huge Cookout Style burger, and received a burger with no chili, slaw, and onions, as described after waiting for long. When we asked to have it replaced, the manager gave us the chili and onions (without the slaw) and made us put it instead of forming the sandwich themselves. We felt ripped off! Also, when we asked for water from the cashier, he said that it's NOT free, when we've been getting water for free from other Cook Out locations, but I saw another customer get water for free from another employee. Very bad customer service, and long wait times; takes out the "fast" from "fast food", and will. This is our first time in this new Chapel Hill location, and we were glad to hear that there's a closer location to our home, but we will never return to this location, and we would rather drive to Durham location, where we experienced better customer service.

Bright and cheerful ambience. I am a vegetarian and when I couldn’t get anything vegetarian from menu the young man at the counter offered to make me an impromptu vegetarian sandwich ! Now that’s southern hospitality and genuinely inclusive and service oriented attitude. Hats off to Cookout and it’s staff. The young girl who helped me to get extra spoons was also very pleasant with a genuinely warm smile. Now for the food! The banana walnut milkshake was simply heavenly ! Rich …. but soul satisfying taste. The fries seemed authentic and satisfying. It could have been more crispy. Husband ordered a burger too. All this for an affordable price $11. Now that’s value for your money! Overall a very happy experience. Great place to meet friends or for casual family gatherings.

We ordered 2 meals waited 20 minutes, get our food. Husband opens his double cheeseburger to find a tiny burger and then an even smaller one. The tomato was bigger than larger burger. Not first time getting a double burger so I go ask the manager who says yes one burger is larger then second is smaller, that’s the way we make it. Really looks like they took one burger and split it to make two. Asks if we want a new one because she admitted they were very small. We just waited 20 minutes for this. Also rude. Plus employee just outside door smoking so you have to walk through it.

Finally. Cook Out in Chapel Hill. There's really not much to say. This location is just like all other Cook Outs I've been to - Delicious.

If you've never been to Cook Out, you're in for a treat. Great food. Great value.

The burgers are the best fast food burgers you can get. They're char-grilled and smokey tasting. If you get cheese on it, it's perfectly melted. Sometimes the burgers are a slight greasy mess, however, I mean that in the best way.

Their hot dogs are good too, however, hot dogs are hot dogs. Cook Out makes them well. I highly suggest "Cook Out Style". Their chilie is great and meaty enough and their slaw isn't too sweet.

Fried chicken sandwiches are crispy and taste good however I wish the spicy was more spicy. They don't compare to Chick-fil-A though. However, the sides make up for anything lacking there.

Speaking of sides. This is where Cook Out shines and where the value comes from. If you get the tray, not only do you the entre, you can get two decently portioned sides with it. Including, and I kid you not, 2 full corn dogs or 2 quesadillas. Or you can spring for their fries (I suggest Cajun style with their seasoning) or even chicken wraps.

What I'm trying to get across is. No matter the time of day: hung over mornings, traveling through lunches, inexpensive family dinners, or late night munchies, your going to get delicious food and your going to love every bite.

Oh! The milkshakes! Just buy one. Get all the flavors you like. You'll see.

I've been there a couple times since they've opened, lunch, dinner, 3am, and I haven't been...

Asked if you have a small or large jalapeno fries. Yes, ok can I get a large. Rang me up for a regular!? Like uhh ok, if your unsure then ask again don't just assume. And to top it off if someone ask you if you have a bigger version and you said yea why would I still order a regular, I didnt even ask for price difference. Retune the fries and now food is not gonna taste good. I order things specifically for a reason. Now that meal is ruin. I would normally let little mistakes go, but come on!! How hard was that order! Someone makes a mistake and I have to pay for it? I only lost not gain because of someone incompetence. The other cook out on Shannon road is on point!! This is not the first time over here at this location, but frustrated and upset so had to do this review about I'm never coming to this location ever again. Update. By the time I dealt with that and got to my place, my food is cold. Lost all appetite and just ga e it to the dogs. Cant even get a simple order right. I don't even know what to say. Learn to...

I come here quite frequently, maybe once a week, and I always order the same thing. Quality doesn't really change so that by itself is fine but every time I order Cajun fries it's a toss up whether or not it will actually have seasoning on it. The fries suck by itself so without Cajun seasoning it just tastes bland. Of the 4 times I went during lunch hours and I asked for Cajun fries, every time I got it without any Cajun seasoning. Dinner hours has like a small chance of it not being seasoned which is why if you are going to get Cajun fries, come at night.

Edit: happy with the improvements. Been a few months of ordering drive thru and I visibly see that my Cajun fries are now getting the seasoning they deserve whether it be lunch or dinner hours. I guess now my only qualm left is that sometimes I only get 1 packet of sauce for my order when it takes at minimum 2, but I guess if it's to conserve sauce until closing time then there is nothing that...
