We had our daughter’s wedding at Carolina Club on May 27th 2018. We felt very disappointed with the whole experience. Anyone who is looking for a wedding venue at UNC Chapel Hill, Carolina Club should not be a venue of choice. Carolina Club just rents you the space but you have to rent all the other bells and whistles on your own. And once you add the cost involved with outside rentals along with 20% Carolina Club charges on the rentals you are better off having a wedding at Carolina inn with lot less headache and a whole lot of convenience. In order for us to sign the contract Camille Zarzar who is private event director promised a separate room for bride and groom to get ready along with a space for outside caterers to prep the food. But a week before the wedding she backed off and refused to give any of the above. We were in a state of panic and had a very stressful few days trying to work out things. It was an absolute nightmare. The atmosphere is very unfriendly and communication is nearly impossible. At the wedding reception around 9:45 the staff frantically started cleaning the tables. All the table numbers along with everything else was thrown away. This should not have been the case since we had rented the place till 11 pm. The guest felt that the party is over and they are suppose to leave. It was very embarrassing for us the hosts. Not only that during the cocktail hours not enough silverware and plates were placed on the buffet tables and guests were running out of these essentials. When I noticed that there were no napkins next to the plates I asked Camille about it and her reply was ‘There are napkins next to the beverages but if you want we can put with the food too’. HOW RIDICULOUS!! I can go on and on with my experience with this wedding venue. Nothing but a huge...
Read moreI arrived with reservations with my mom and dad and family to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday (he's retired faculty). I was wearing crushed linen Perry Ellis slacks, Colehaan leather shoes, Yves Saint Laurent dress shirt, but no jacket. The host approached me at the table and told me I needed a jacket in order to stay, and that he would bring me one. He brought me a tattered sport coat from SEARS. The waitress had obviously never opened a bottle of wine before in her life; literally couldn't do it, so I helped her, showed her how, being very nice (Oh and I took my jacket off to do it). The food took forever even though they were not busy, and was not very good. The place rings with old money pretentiousness. If you're going to talk to me about how I'm dressed when I walk in, my server better know how to open a bottle of wine, and the food better be good. Perhaps a good space for larger...
Read moreI am so sorry to have to leave this review. I waited for years to be able to join this club and for 18 months had a very good experience with staff. This year there was an accounting issue that was so hard to resolve I terminated the membership.. At every turn that I have communicated with Management Ive been met with rudeness on the phone and email. Not once has anyone conveyed any sense of apologetic language.. Its all been " well this is our process for handling this"....They "miss the boat" on membership retention or membership return when one doesnt provide good customer experience during a...
