Gold Star Coffee — Restaurant in Charleston

Where is the six-star button?? This coffee shop stands within the small percentage of coffee shops that hits it out of the ballpark on every single metric.

First of all, I have to apologize to those of you who don't get to see Fatima's smiling face when you walk in the door. I know you have to be out there because I doubt she works every day from opening to close. You see, any shop can have great coffee, perfect coffee, sublime coffee, but none other than this one, can have a Fatima.

But even the friendliest person at the register wouldn’t make up for mediocre coffee. And so Gold Star stands on its own in that regard. I mean, where else can you get a Salted Bourbon Honey Latte?

As one other reviewer put it, “HO Ma GAH!!” Oh, mah, gawd, is right. In fact, it might be slightly understating it. I wish I had taken a picture of my drink, but somehow it disappeared altogether too quickly before any photos could be taken.

I contented myself with just purchasing the honey instead. Yes! They have it available amongst their other amazing things to purchase!

Every single way I could think of to rate this coffee shop positively, I would rate it way, way above average. Get there. Quick. Even if you have to cross a couple of states, like we did,...

The smoothies all just taste like milk - there is no flavor. Clearly no one taste testing anything or if the owner has, there is no quality control on what’s going out to customers. The vibe is dead, it’s nice and clean but dead - low music and the music is terrible emo music, no one with good taste is dj’ing. Here’s a tip: serve more food. People leave John’s to work, so coffee in the AM makes sense. But during the day, give people a reason to come by for lunch, lunch meetings, etc. More people and good music = better vibes. I’m in love with a this new place the best coffee to get on the menu is a iced mocha latte so so good to drink. The prices are insanely good for me along with the coffee so I’m not going to complain. The owner is the nicest person greets me like I’m family. The shop is very clean And lots of space to sit and relax or have a zoom call and work on your projects on a laptop. If you’re looking for a quick and easy morning brew then this is the perfect place for you and your friends or family.
