I saw they opened a new spot downtown Charleston and I decided to go in and order food for take out. The menu was short and sweet and I quickly decided on the BBQ pulled pork sandwich combo that comes w two sides. I chose Collard greens and macaroni and cheese. For the Sandwich they offer choices of mild or hot in reference to the sauce. I chose mild. I also asked if I could put cole slaw on top and they said yes so I had them put cole slaw on top of my pulled pork Sandwich. The collard greens was perfectly cooked the way I love. Texture and flavor perfect. The mac and cheese I believe is the best I ever had. The sandwich was amazing. The next day I decided to go back. I chose to sit and eat this time. They were pretty busy so with that said I give the young lady serving me the benefit of doubt for some minor errors. This time I chose BBQ brisket sandwich, sweet potato casserole, unfortunately they were out of the collard greens so I opted for green beans. I asked that cole slaw be put on my brisket and banana pudding for dessert. I didn't get the slaw nor the dessert. I was kind of disappointed. However when I was paying the bill I told the server and she offered to get them for me at that time so I accepted. The food was delicious. I love that she adds tiny pieces of pecans to the sweet potato casserole. Yummy. Also this time I was given options for mild, hot or mixed sauce for the brisket. I chose mixed. Devine! I waited until I got home so I could add the slaw to my sandwich. So good! I'm from Alabama and I know good food. Finally, someone who knows how to cook real BBQ and southern style...
Read moreWe already loved Dem 2 Brothers and a Grill so having a location open even closer to us is exciting! Almost as exciting as the CORN RIBS for this plant based food lover! I went in for dinner with my husband ready to order a few sides for a meal, as I usually do, and then the girl taking our orders asked if I wanted to try their corn ribs. I had no idea what to expect yet it exceeded all expectations. The corn ribs were delicious and fun to eat. The dipping sauce added a nice flavor as well. I was so happy to find a new plant based food to try. Besides helping to fill my stomach and satisfy my taste buds, it made me feel cared for and thought of, something I don’t often get in restaurants around here and completely unexpected from a meat centric restaurant.
Other than the corn ribs, in between my husband and I, we had Mac & cheese, baked beans, potato salad, fries, and brisket. We loved it all! If you’re a mac&cheese lover you must try theirs! It slaps!
My only suggestion for improvement is to lower the music volume and keep it consistent. It kept jumping from off to blaring to loud while we were there.
We can’t wait...
Read moreThe absolute best bbq in the state and surrounding areas. There is some serious thought and love in the dishes served here. You need a trip to downtown Charleston if you don't live in the area just to come here to eat. The brisket and pork is perfectly cooked and seasoned, not over compensating in any way for the wonderful smoke goodness in every bite. The ribs are nothing short of amazing, and then smoked bologna...damn! The sides are all stand outs on their own. The collard greens are the best I have eaten since my old pal Len(R.I.P. bro) introduced me how to properly make them in 1994. Mac n cheese? Yes, please..get extra to go..it reheats very well. The sweet potato casserole? You gon' want some more! This place is absolutely rooted in traditional bbq/soul perfect fusion, and you owe it to yourself to have the best bbq you ever put in your mouth..oh yeah, don't forget to save room for thr banana pudding!
