Some of the best avocado toast and coffee I’ve ever had!! I’ve been to many locally owned coffee places and I found that they tend to be overpriced/have watered down coffee but I was pleasantly surprised when my friend and I visited the harbinger cafe!! The prices are reasonable for the quality and portion size of the food. It was only $15 for both the avocado toast and the large coffee with even extra syrups and shots of espresso and the avocado toast fed both my friend and I! I also love that the milk is locally sourced and the syrups are house made. I wish I had bought a bag of the coffee beans to bring home with me. Employees were super friendly too and service was fast. The interior was super cozy and clean. Will definitely return once I go downtown again!

This Cafe is cool. I know thats such a short, overused descriptor but I can't think of any other place in Charleston that has this vibe. I feel like I am in a college town rom-com. Every quirky detail carefully considered and artfully placed. Even the baristas had the very Gen Z lack of care that felt almost too sterotypical to be real. The food was fantastic and presentation was beautiful. I arrived late in the day for breakfast so I missed out on using the "real" mugs but the use of dishes, mugs, and silverware that could've come out of my grandma's kitchen was a special touch. The drip coffee was okay but their latte was heavenly. Highly recommend the specialty drinks over the standard cup. Will be back! Happy to have found this gem not far from my office 🤩

LOVE THIS LOCAL SPOT. Every part of it has a beautiful aesthetic. The place has a small outdoor section with lots of plants. The drip coffee comes in these thick locally made ceramic mugs that make you want to give it a hand hug. Exclusively on Saturdays they have freshly made bagels that are the best I have ever had. Unique flavors and cream cheese. It takes so much effort and time to make them that they can only do it on Saturdays. I really recommend the toasts, but don't get the quiche. The quiche looks amazing, but wasn't warm enough and was a let down on the flavor. The coffee tasted great (but only had their drip coffee).

This place is such a hidden gem and deserves even more than 5 stars! The food is so unique and tasty, tons of options for vegans/vegetarians and I'm pretty sure I saw some GF options as well! I LOVE the Grasshopper toast. It's not too heavy, super flavorful, and healthy! My boyfriend loves the Harbinger Breakfast Sandwich. It's good for when you're in the mood for something more substantial, and the white cheddar pimento cheese is incredible! I've had tons of their baked goods, all fantastic. Their beverages are just as good as well. I love the Tumeric Chai Latte (both hot and iced). Their cafe itself is also super cute and cozy and worth going off the beaten path to. My go to neighborhood cafe :)

Also! The staff is incredible. When they decided to hault operations due to the pandemic, they posted on their social media stating that they'd be giving away 100 bags of methodical coffee. All you had to do was share the post, message them your address, and tell them if you wanted the beans whole or ground. Later that day.... we got the best treat dropped off right on our doorstep! With one of their incredible homemade cookies and a handwritten note. For free! (during a crisis in the food and bev industry!) And they posted about delivering to all 99 other people who signed up. Pretty incredible. Thanks Harbinger! Can't wait to be...

I love Harbinger, but my experience ordering from the bakery was a nightmare. I sent an email a week before my order pickup date. Two days later, still hadn't heard anything, so I called and asked about the order status. I was told that the baker was out and when they got back they'd reach out with details. Two days later, still nothing. I called and emailed yet again - still nothing. Finally, a day before I needed my order, I received an email confirming my order with pricing information. Next day I go to pick up the order and they have nothing for me. The poor young woman at the register was very apologetic but they didn't even have the order on file. She was able to confirm I was communicating with the correct person and they just dropped the ball completely. This disorganization nearly ruined my sister's birthday - if they had told me right off the bat that this order wouldn't work out, I would have moved on right away to another option. Additionally, I was told I would hear from Harbinger management to apologize, and it's been radio silence. SUPER disappointed! The food is so good and the cafe is one of my favorites in Charleston, but this was...

Definitely one of my favorite vegan places to go to. It just sucks it is so far from the college so I don’t go as often as I would like.

Never really had any problems and staff is pretty nice and friendly.

The other day I went I had a cashier who was being annoying by not listening to me really. I had ordered the plate with three choices. All of them were vegan. The cashier asked if I wanted bread and I asked if it was vegan and she told me “yes”. I then order a desert and matcha drink. The cashier asks “is whole milk fine” even though everything I have ordered so far is vegan and I go to make sure things are vegan. She just seems to have ignored what I was really saying. Aside from this one annoying person, I am still giving it a 5* because I feel the staff will hopefully notice this and ask this cashier to listen to the customers. I can’t tell if she was anti-vegan, I can’t imagine she was, but it was off-putting in this type of...
