A Strong Town isn’t always the one with the most resources—it’s the one that’s most resourceful with what it has. For decades, skateboarders have been pushed to the edges of public life. But as cities struggle to make streets and plazas feel alive again, maybe we should look to them as a model. DIY skateparks are communities doing what they can with what they have. Cities can either resist that energy—or learn from it. What if we built parks the same way? What if housing grew from the bottom up? What if we found more ways to say yes to the things already happening in our neighborhoods? Other skate videos: 1. Pop up DIY @jonjon.jpeg 2. Today we’re skating, the famous bridge spot in Charleston, South Carolina. This is definitely the best DIY skate park I’ve ever been to. If you guys are ever in the area, definitely hit it up. #skateboard #skateboarding #skate #skatepark #diy

From the flat track to the skate park! 🤘 A few of your favorite Highrollers took their wheels to new terrain, with some brave souls trying park skating for the very first time and others with experience with the skatepark scene. We love seeing our team grow! Ready for more Highroller action? Our next bout, Cruel Summer, is rolling into town on August 2nd! Get your tickets now via our website and get ready to shop 'til you drop with 15 fantastic vendors. Support local, watch derby!♥️♦️♣️♠️🎰🎲 🥰Always an extra special thank you to all the patrons of #thebridgespot . Everyone is always so supportive and welcoming of us when we visit.🛼🛹 #charlestonlocal #benishere #rollerderby #learntoskate

Probably the smoothest ground I've ever skated at a DIY. The locals have really lucked out if it was like that when they started building.

The park itself is a good mix of transition and street. A lot of DIY's will focus on one or the other. There's plenty of space here too and room for new builds.

The mini ramp is a little tight but I know people like that. Some of the obstacles in the middle of the park are for advanced skaters only but there's plenty of stuff here to keep everyone entertained.

A really good space and it seems well looked after.

A big, free skatepark for all. It’s shaded, full of some creative graffiti art - with a great variety of things/ surfaces/ ramps (sorry, not a skater) for all levels it seems. My daughter is a novice and had a great time cruising around. It was fun for me to watch some of the more advanced skaters, who were all respectful and welcoming. If you can find it, there’s even space to park right there under the overpass, adjacent to...

Crazy that skaters have come together and pieced this place together more and more year after year. Have seen it on instagram and finally skated it last weekend! Park is starting to flow really well, if you skateboard, YOU NEED TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT. Kind of hard to find a way in because of current construction around the area, but...
