We tried Smoke Up Fusion Barbecue while on vacation in St. Thomas after leaving Brewerâs Beach, and it was a great experience overall. The food truck is conveniently located near the cruise ships, offering a lovely view of the bay filled with both cruise liners and private boats. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the owners were very friendly.
If you love barbecue and arenât vegan, this is definitely a spot to check out. My family ordered the jerk chicken and smoked Thai chili wings, and they absolutely loved them! Both were well-seasoned, fall-off-the-bone tender, and full of flavor. For sides, they tried coconut rice, Togarashi broccoli, street corn, and smoked mac & cheese. The coconut rice was a standoutâperfectly cooked and full of flavor. Unfortunately, the other sides were underwhelming. The street corn had an overpowering creamy mustard sauce, the broccoli was overcooked and mushy, and the smoked mac & cheese didnât have much smoky flavor and could have been cheesier.
On the drink side, we got there just before happy hour ended and took advantage of half-price drinks. The classic margarita was delicious, and my kids loved the passionfruit lemonade from their specialty house juices. My husband also tried and enjoyed the jerk chicken taco, which was a happy hour special.
There was about a 30-minute wait due to how busy they were, but we didnât mind at all. The weather was perfect, and the view made the wait enjoyable. While some of the sides were disappointing, my family thought the barbecue itself was excellent, and the friendly service and great atmosphere made it a worthwhile stop. Would definitely recommend checking them out if youâre...

Smoke up does just that by cooking with creativity, passion, and meticulous attention to detail. It's flat delicious and the carribean-asian fusion is the collab we never knew we needed but now it will be hard to live without. We tried everything on our favorite entrees were the there *ribs and wings with the togarashi broccoli as a side. The smokey flavor of the meat just develops every bite and the seasoning and spice on everything just fills every bite with deliciousness. O and That broccoli....is my favorite preparation of a vegetable ever. The smoke and the twang of the togarashi just make for bite almost conviced me I could be a vegetarian! Though we had favorites NOTHING on the menu that's a miss including the other sides! Not only Is the food great the owners are amazing people that are so kind, courteous, and passionate about what they do and are just a pleasure to be around.
For all future visits to St.Thomas our priority will be to eat at smoke up first and foremost! The beaches excursions, and hotel check in can wait because it's Just. That. Good.
TLDR: Eat here if you truly want the best and most creative food on the island, made by some of the nicest people you'll met. Your taste buds will thank you for the rest...
Read moreAmazing little spot. My wife ate here on two separate occasions (because we had to try more of the menu after the first time) while on our vacation in St. Thomas. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, the food does not miss! Also, you get to enjoy the pretty view of the marina while you eat your food.
For mains, we tried the 18 hour brisket, the smoke up burger, Chinese BBQ ribs, and the Thai chili smoked wings. For sides we tried the smoked mac and cheese, coconut rice, togarashi broccoli, and street corn.
Everything is seasoned and cooked to perfection. If you are going here for the first time, we highly recommend the brisket (if itâs available), smoked wings, street corn, and broccoli, those were our favorites. The street corn and broccoli are both covered in super yummy sauces while the brisket and wings were both seasoned & cooked gorgeously.
Super good quality for the price, and if you are looking for something more affordable on the island you should go during happy hour to get the delicious $2 jerk chicken tacos, divine $1 smoked buffalo wings, and $5 drinks. The house lemonade is a good refreshing option too.
If you are only going to eat at one place on the island, make...
