Looking over some of the local newsfeeds here in Charlotte yesterday; I noticed that they had posted (in numerous spots) the top 10 burger places here in our area. And ACE No.3 (Myers Park) had taken the top spot. Later in the day, I received a service call for the Arboretum area. I was pleasantly surprised whenever Google maps directed me to take the surface streets, instead of the highways, due to the amount of traffic jams etc. While driving through the Myers Park area, I glanced over and saw Ace No.3 on my left and told a friend of mine about the local newsfeeds and how Ace No.3 had ranked number 1 again, for the best burgers in Charlotte. After completing the original service call, I again used Google maps to direct us back to Ace No.3 so that we would be able too judge their number 1 ranking for ourselves. I missed the turn off the first time around. It's the driveway right before Wells Fargo, or right after, depending upon your direction of travel. The cleanliness of the parking lot, was the first thing that I noticed. There was also outdoor seating space available, complete with umbrellas. The interior cleanliness of the business did not disappoint either. Bright, open areas to your immediate right. With 2 longer picnic style tables available for communal seating, as well as some window seats. There was a full compliment of staff working behind the counter, as well as in the grilling and frying stations. The staff members worked together like a very well oiled machine. All that I encountered and/or spoke to were both friendly, knowledgeable and polite. I would strongly recommend that you pay attention to the peak hours, as we made it inside and were able too order right away. After we had placed our to go order, the floodgates seemed to open and they were inundated with enough customers, that standing room only became the norm. Even the other customers were exceedingly polite and friendly. Whenever I made it back home and was able too finally eat my burger and fries; I know why everyone seemed to be so happy waiting for their orders to come up. I ordered "The Ace" and fries. 2 patties, American cheese, steamed onions, house-made pickles and Comeback sauce. All served on a seedless bun. The fries had a very nice brown crisp texture and the burger was fantastic. Everything seemed to meld perfectly and seamlessly together. Their menu isn't overly large and with good reason; if you cook something really well and your customers enjoy it, you don't need too fill up your menu with a barrage of different things. Myers Park is an exceptionally nice area of Charlotte. Take your time, take a drive and enjoy what has to be for me, one of the very best burgers that I've "ever" eaten. Everything is handicap accessible and both bathrooms are gender neutral. If you took the time to read this review, please take a 1/2 second and click...
Read moreWe went to the Myers Park Ace last Saturday before the lunch rush to pick up lunch for three of us. Pretty average stuff here. I’m not sure why this place gets such a high rating - this is far from the best burger in Charlotte! All 3 of us agreed that Ace was a disappointment. We got cheeseburgers with a single patty. The meat was flavorless, and with a single patty, the amount of meat to bun was overwhelmed by the bun. The bun was good though, just too much bread for a single patty. Overall, this was a very underwhelming burger. For sides, we got the fries, onion straws, and the sweet potato tots. The fries & onion straws are good. The sweet potato tots were just soft flavorless blobs- we ate about half & dumped the rest. We were supposed to get comeback sauce, garlic mayo, & spicy dijonaise sauces with our order, but there was none in the bag, so that was a disappointment. One of the most common problems I'm seeing with take out from a variety of restaurants is that while they get the main items right they forget to pack the sauces, salad dressings, sides, etc. While we were waiting, the staff cooking food & the milkshake person were all working hard, but the guy at the register made it clear he’d rather be anywhere else than here. After eating, I told my wife that this place is only a small cut above Burger King or Wendys. She said that for what we paid for the food, she’d rather we had gone to Burger...
Read moreSecond review of an Ace No. 3. The previous review was at the Concord location.
Off of an Instagram post, I commented about the price of their food vs. Other similar style restaurants. The social media manager commented right back and asked us to try it again. So we obliged. This time trying the Myers Park location.
Our visit was around 2pm and it wasn't crazy busy. The food was great as I mentioned in my previous review, however, I thought it was a little pricey for what you were getting. I must admit, this visit seemed cheaper, of course we didn't get soft drinks ($3) and got the special so it was a standard price ($10), vs. building your own burger.
Apart from the food being good, I'm mostly disappointed with the state of the restaurant. Again, I didn't think it was too busy and I understand that cleaning comes in phases as lines taper off.....and MAYBE I was being a little over critical from being persuaded to try this place again....but I was overall displeased with the looks.
I didn't take a direct photo of the toilet but it was disgusting...etc...the trash can was broken, the floors were rather dirty, despite the way the photo was taken (trying to not be rude to others), and the soda machine was out of two selections, as I watched people frustratedly choose...
