Meraki Luxury Salon — Local services in Charlotte

I hate to give a three star review because I know how important public opinion is to small businesses. I went to the salon just about two months ago in June for a keratin treatment. Overall the service was lovely. Winnie seemed very experienced, and even when there was a miscommunication over the inclusion of a trim, they found a way to fit me in. I was initially told the treatment would start at $500, which is something I’m accustomed to, and left the salon paying over $700.

Hair for black women is our form of expression, so a treatment that would help with manageability overrides initial concerns for price. Where I started having issues, was when I left the salon. Granted it was a hot day in June, but by the time I got home, my hair needed to be rest straightened showing frizziness and fraying. If you know anything about keratin treatments, the treatment does not activate unless your hair gets to a certain temperature and is left bone straight for multiple days on end. I of course, followed the instructions and left my hair untouched for multiple days, surpassing the initial three day period.

As soon as I went for my first wash, I knew there was something different about this treatment. For someone who has been getting keratin treatments for around 10 years, I have an expectation of what it does to my hair texture, and immediately noticed it felt like I had already been washing my hair for a month. Weeks go by, and the issue progresses. A treatment like this typically lasts me around 5 months, and by the end of month one, I was starting to feel due for ANOTHER treatment. Some of these concerns are difficult to put into words, and I understand majority of Meraki’s customers do not have ethnic hair, but paying over $700 for a treatment and not having the results I expected has been frustrating. There’s areas that seem as if they were left unsaturated, and my roots have kinky curls that are not resemblant of regrowth in just a 2 month period.

I hate that I’ve shared a review this far after my experience, but my main complaint is on logevity…and I’ve only been able to determine that in the aftermath. I’m not sure if the keratin is a weaker grade than the one I’m used to or it was an issue with saturation, but i don’t see myself going back for another treatment, especially...

Having recently moved to Charlotte, I wanted a fresh, new look to represent my new adventure. After doing a deep dive into the best stylist in Charlotte, I came across the most glowing reviews for Lori at Meraki, and knew I could trust her with my new do. I had a consultation with Lori before she cut and colored my hair and she asked me all the right questions - how often I styled it, what I wanted it to look like, and any inspiration that would help guide her art in a few weeks.

Fast forward to today and Lori did the most amazing job of giving me a new cut and jazzy color that would warm up my deep brown hair for the summer, highlight my features, and would remain timeless and look amazing not only today, but in 2 months and 6 months from now.

Lori has the most calm demeanor, amazing style and attitude towards life, and made me feel right at home in her beautiful salon she opened with Caroline in 2019. I am beyond grateful to have stumbled upon the wonderful ladies at Meraki - Crystal and Winnie are the sweetest and have the same warm energy as Lori. Birds of a feather, I suppose! :) I feel like I've had a renaissance thanks to Lori, and am so excited for my new chapter with my new look!! I highly recommend and trust Lori with any and all of my future...

So. Freaking. Good! Was in the area and needed my highlights refreshed and a cut. I have curly hair so am always nervous when looking for a cut. Jessica on the phone was SUPER helpful and not judgy when I explained how I can be 'one of those people who come back' if i'm not happy. She put me with Lyndsay and Lyndsay 100% delivered. She also listened to alllll of my requests and concerns, we did a fall refresh and I loved it. She is SO gentle, normally my scalp hurts when I leave because pulling the curls and foils over and over, but I can honestly say I was able to finally relax and understand what people say when they enjoy getting their hair done. My hair is so important to me and I am so happy I went here. The salon is also so cute, clean and relaxing - luxury for sure without the stuffiness and...
