Biryani Nation — Restaurant in Charlotte

I ordered two biryanis, dosa, chole bhature, and mesu vada yesterday. Masala of dosa had a foul smell, and I threw it. Biryanis were okay. Not as it used to be before. Vada was not fresh as well, and it was hard. The food was perfect last time, but we ordered it in the morning. We ordered late this time (around 8 PM, and stores close at 9:30 PM), so not sure if it was because of that. Irrespective of when the food is ordered, as a customer I will expect food without a foul smell. I will never be ordering from this place again, and so will be done by the other 3 families, who were trying to enjoy their food yesterday. I called them to tell them about the foul smell of dosa masala, but they wanted me to bring the food back but did not want to drive back leaving my dinner with friends and family. That was just a waste. Also, a few months ago I ordered food from them for 13 people, the food was good at that time. So, I tried calling them again for a catering order of 55 adults and 20 kids. The lady told me she would call me back as she would have to talk to the manager due to the big order. I never got a call back from them, and I didn't bother calling them back as I felt like they did not care for their customers. I ended up giving the business to another store nearby. Customer service seems super poor. No, thank you when you hang up the phone. As a customer, I feel like the guy hung up on me. Anyway, I will stay away from this place. I was so excited to place a takeout order. I was so thoroughly frustrated and discouraged to have had the experience of not being able to ask questions without getting a headache. I called to ask a few specific questions before placing an order online. When somebody finally did pick up the phone, I could not hear them. It sounded as if they were in the middle of the kitchen. The background noise was overpowering. I asked them if they could go somewhere quieter where I could hear them and they could hear me. Despite driving, I pulled over and picked up my headset. That didn’t help. I asked questions repeatedly. He gave answers to different questions altogether repeatedly. I finally got him to slow down and communicate with me to ask if certain items were gluten-free for my wife. After asking three times, I still could not understand his response. I asked him if a certain item was available. It was available online. He said it was not available. that particular item was the only reason I was choosing this restaurant over another. Every time I have called, they are magically out of that one item. I used to love the food here. But I had forgotten how frustrating it is to ask questions and get answers, or to get the thing I ordered online. This could and should be an easy fix for the restaurant, but it was the difference between ordering close to $100 of food versus becoming so agitated and frustrated that I...

Where do I start... We have been visiting this place for years. The name has changed, the management has changed, but we continued to go here for authentic South Indian food options. However, since the last few visits, it has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish.

During our last visit, the lassi they served was old and curdled, with a weird and off-putting taste. The dosa was drenched in oil, practically dripping with it, making it impossible to enjoy. The Paneer 65 was a disaster – it was nothing but boiled paneer slathered in artificial color, and it was watery and tasteless.

The final straw was finding a hair in my coconut chutney served with the dosa. This level of hygiene is unacceptable and downright disgusting. For the exorbitant prices they charge, the quality of food and service is abysmal. There are plenty of other Indian restaurants nearby that offer much better food and a more pleasant dining experience.

Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to risk getting poisoned. It's clear the management’s priorities have changed – you have no idea what authentic Indian food should taste like. Don’t waste your time or money...
