Cons: A gold necklace went missing from my travel jewelry case. The hotel manager said the housekeeper denied taking it so they would not take responsibility for it. If she took it, did they expect her to admit it? My room was cleaned on our second day of stay and I noticed the jewelry missing that evening. No one else but the housekeeping service was in the room. I tried on the necklace the night before and it was tangled so I put it back in the case as itās a delicate piece, thus I know it was there. Yes, I should have used the safe for my gold jewelry, it just never crossed my mind that I had to worry about theft at a Marriott hotel in an upscale neighborhood. It was a very dear peace to me as it was my momās so this is very upsetting. I would never try to get someone in trouble just for the sport of it, this is a serious violation of my privacy and safety at a presumably reputable establishment.
Other cons: -Stayed in room 218, even though the reservation for our 10 person business group was made weeks ahead of time for the city view rooms, none of us got it. rude front desk staff very hard beds closet/ coffee bar area - very small, canāt hang longer dresses or pants. If youāre in Charlotte for business and bring suits and other business type of clothing for more than one day itās difficult to keep it presentable in that closet and there are only 2 tiny drawers that maybe fit undergarments, no dressers in the room. And only 4 hangers in the closet area, and it has no doors. And thatās where the coffee maker lives as well- very odd and not sanitary. -spotty cleanliness- dirt and hair trapped in corners and around couch, bed and bench legs, and around the toilet base. very loud AC/heat system/ vent expense breakfast 2 tiny complimentary bottles of water every other day per room, $4 water bottles in the kiosk by the front desk -water/ice machine in the hallway was broken, hallway microwave - also broken/non functioning
Pros: the only reason I even gave it 2 stars -newer and modern hotel -nice lobby -lobby bar with a decent choice of cocktails and beer, I donāt drink but they offer non alcoholic drinks -wide hallways that smell well with new clean carpet -spacious rooms -spacious bathroom with a large shower and large lit up mirror, mounted large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel that smell very nice, good quality towels quality comforter, not too heavy or too light
I will not stay here again! Debating our membership pros and cons, and our business travel arrangements with Marriott...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWorst hotel experience Iāve ever had and I travel a lot. We stayed here for 10 days and we had a room facing a parking lot which meant we had to have the curtains closed at all times for privacy (people can see you from the parking lot, itās very close). There are also garbage bins right under these windows so whenever the truck comes to pick them up itās super noisy. Also, the rooms were not properly cleaned (dirt in the corners of the room, dust on the baseboards in the bathroom, dirt on the side of shower, etc.). The heating didnāt work either, you could only cool the room when it got humid from the shower so it was always cold. ||Despite all these issues I didnāt want to change rooms because itās always a hassle to pack everything, talk to front desk, etc. However, yesterday our shower got clogged. The water was barely draining so you had your feet in that dirty water the whole time. At this point I really wanted to move so we asked front desk. It was around 10 PM. They said we could move in the morning. ||In the morning we went down to talk to them again and they said they would send maintenance up to check the shower. Who would want to have a stranger come up in their room to unclog the shower, pulling whatever disgusting stuff is in there while having their towels, cosmetics, and everything else in there? Plus I had work meetings all day so this would have been very disruptive. We explained all of this to front desk and she said they were fully booked and couldnāt move us to another room. I checked the website and they had at least 5 rooms available so she literally lied to our face for no reason. ||I called front desk and told her about this and she still said she couldnāt give us another room and hung up on me! This is the worst customer experience Iāve ever had in my life. I went downstairs again to talk to her and was very polite and explained the situation and all the issues we had with this room and she said she would see if we can be moved after 3 PM when the recently vacated rooms would be cleaned. No one ever contacted us! And there are still rooms available on the website right now. Luckily weāre leaving tomorrow morning but to be honest this hotel is a joke and Iām never staying here again (or in another Marriott hotel). Maybe be more careful who you hire because I just checked some reviews online and there are tons of similar stories, youād think this would be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy stay at the AC Hotel by Marriott Charlotte Ballantyne last weekend was truly heartbreaking. My wife and I arrived late, exhausted and ready to relax, especially since she is dealing with anxiety following several strokes and brain surgery. We were looking forward to a peaceful stay, but our experience was anything but.
Upon arrival, the area rug in our suite was dirty, and there was no microwave. We chose this hotel based on recommendations and the rooftop restaurant, but we were woken up before 6 AM by loud noises above us, making it impossible to sleep. This lack of rest was particularly detrimental to my wife's anxiety. There was no bottled water or restocked tea and sugar in the room, adding to our frustration.
Breakfast was another disappointment. I was informed it was $19.99 for the hot bar or Ć la carte, but they didn't have any non-pork items. I was advised to go to one of the surrounding businesses for breakfast options, which felt dismissive and unaccommodating.
The day got even worse when I discovered my truck had been hit in the parking lot. The front desk showed no concern, and their lack of empathy was disheartening. The constant noise from roof construction, which started at 10 AM and continued until 7 PM, made it impossible to relax. The noise was so loud and persistent, coming through the vents like a windstorm, that it felt like we were in a construction zone. My wife just couldnāt handle it, and her anxiety worsened. Despite informing the staff, they offered no solutions or apologies and didn't inform us about the construction when we checked in. This made us feel completely disregarded and added to our stress.
Upon checkout, the staff didn't ask about our stay, and follow-up promises were not kept. Someone finally called me back after I did a small internal review to keep me from doing a Google review, but Iām tired of spending money and being lied to. My stay was horrible, and no one seemed to care. The lack of compassion and understanding from the hotel staff was truly upsetting. I am requesting a full refund, the points promised to me that equal my stay for the next visit, and compensation for my inconvenience. I feel lied to and...
