Elsewhere Cocktail Bar — Restaurant in Charlotte

For a venue that claims to specialize exclusively in cocktails, Elsewhere fell far short of even the most basic expectations. My friends and I stopped in on a quiet weeknight hoping for a quick round of classic drinks—but what we got instead was a frustrating, underwhelming experience from start to finish.

To begin with, the service was incredibly slow, keeping us there far longer than we intended… (Our server was not inviting and claimed she was too busy to greet us.) And sadly, the drinks weren’t worth the wait—or the price. We ordered two of the most classic, straightforward cocktails: an espresso martini and a dirty martini for $20 each, before tip. You’d think these would be foolproof at a cocktail bar, but apparently not.

We were surprised (and honestly disappointed) to hear from our server that the espresso martinis were batched in advance. That detail alone says a lot about the bar's priorities—speed over quality. It was also extremely overly sweet! As for the dirty martini, we were very clear in requesting it slightly dirty, and confirmed that the server understood. What arrived was anything but—completely over-brined, murky, and nearly fluorescent green. Attached is a photo of our cocktail, we were disappointed in their delivery of a drink that was not filled to the brim… and the olives on the side??

We left feeling like the bar was more focused on appearances than execution. When you're charging premium prices for "crafted" cocktails, there’s really no excuse for such carelessness. We expected much more from a place that claims to be all about cocktails—and unfortunately, Elsewhere did not deliver. I don’t believe we will be coming back, unless every other cocktail bar...

Love this place! I have been here twice now, the menu is very creative. The interior design is gorgeous and the customer service is great. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and will explain all the drinks for you. The General Manager, Kelly broke down the entire menu for me, she explained all the liquors I wasn’t familiar with. The menu is very intricate and well thought out, Kelly was sweet enough to answer all of my questions. Just for one example, I have heard of Chartreuse, but I wasn’t quite sure what it was. She explained that item to and many of the other liquors in the cocktail list. I have tried their old fashion the Society’s Lies, and their rendition of a Gimlet, the Roaring 2020 and their valentines special the To My Future Ex. All the drinks were aesthetically pleasing and tasted great. I would like to add, the area where Elsewhere is located is great. You can make a whole evening here from the many restaurants and shops. The Marriage Matters Community had an awesome time at Elsewhere after our date night at Paddywax Candle Bar (10 couples)! Tucked away in the corner many of our participants had no idea the bar was back there.

A few weeks ago I reached out to Elsewhere to discuss a potential partnership with our date night event and Sabrina was very accomodating (the only bar in the area willing to offer a discount to our participants). When we arrived the staff were well informed that we were coming, were prepared to handle our group, and everyone was aware of the specials for our group. They set aside space for us but unfortunately did not have space to accomodate us all at once. They made additional inside for the rest of our group and helped to get us all seated together when space became available. Melvin was our waiter and he was so much fun!

All of the staff were pleasant and accomodating. We appreciated the warm welcome! The drinks were amazing!!! We will be back. Highly...
