Shake Shack South End — Restaurant in Charlotte

We came in on Saturday evening -- my husband, my daughter, our friends, their two children, and I. It was obviously a busy night and I had ordered a veggie patty on my burger. A young man came out to let my husband know they were 86'd and my response came out far more panicked (and possibly louder) than I'd anticipated along the lines of "but then there's nothing I can eat!"

What neither he nor the rest of the room I most assuredly embarrassed myself in front of knew was that I was on the verge of passing out and while my poor blood sugar planning was not the fault of anyone in there aside from myself, my tone may have implied otherwise. This was surely a perceived death sentence from where I was standing.

This delightful human who was burdened with being the bearer of bad news took it all in compassionate stride. He refunded my burger and gave me not one, but two trays of fries -- one of which was covered in cheese and as we all know perfect crinkle cut fries and cheese do indeed make everything better.

My entire party finished all of our food (a rare feat with 3 children under 6), I was restored to a functional person, and crisis was averted.

If I knew his name, I'd thank him directly. I hope this review finds its way to him with a heartfelt thank you paired with an apology...

Shake Shack is already an established institution but it's new to these neck of woods in South End. Being nestled in the womb of South End, Shake Shack is within walking distance to & from the light rail, East/West Station, and to all of the other 'LOCAL BUSINESSES (always support locally b/c you can)'.

My reason for even entertaining Shake Shack is because during the time, they were doing a By One Get One (BOGO) special that popped up my email. The timing was correct because I have not had dinner yet so it was a win-win for me. I had the following items (see attached photos for reference):

Chick’n Shack (*) Crispy chicken breast over lettuce, pickles, buttermilk herb mayo

SmokeShack (**) Cheeseburger with Niman Ranch applewood-smoke

The service there was lackluster and that's why they get 3 stars instead of 4 stars. It seemed as if the "working" employees at the time were annoyed at having customers. Oh, how do I know? I just do. Vibes and energy are EVERYTHING!

All in all, Shake Shack is a chain and not really that impressive, but it's consistently invariable + the burger & chicken sandwich was rudimentary.

Burgers & Bathrooms is what this review is about. Stay with me here... So I had the pleasure of enjoying both here. Was in the area and my group was hungry. We did an online order to get in and out quickly. Unfortunately, I had too many liquids that day so I headed to the restroom while the rest of my group waited with our food (that was ready when promised by the way). COVID-19 is a real "thing" thats here to stay and I can tell this location takes it seriously. I was amazed to see a restaurant exercise social distancing (see pics) down to the T, even in the least thought about place, the bathroom! It's these type of sanitation practices that build my trust as a customer during a pandemic.

Now to the food: All the flavor! Fresh ingredients. Presentation. My mind wanted to go back and order another because it was that good. I did manage to snag some photos of 2 of our burgers for your viewing pleasure,, take a look! Ordeing online was super easy as well.

I highly recommend this Shake Shack location. Their burgers and bathrooms highly impressed...
