Giacomo's Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Charlotte

My family and I went to this restaurant one Saturday evening. I will have to say that this experience was the worst experience eating Italian food in Charlotte, North Carolina. We have been to this restaurant before and the meals were excellent. But they must have switched the staff because the food was terrible. The service was not much better, either.   We ordered the lasagna,  chicken alfredo and beef ravioli. First they brought wrong food, to our table. Also standard bread was missing. We mentioned it to the staff that we were missing the bread that usually comes along with the meal and was told by our server that they were busy and they didn't have any more.. Only to find out they did have more because the table next to us got some... When we mentioned it to the servicer, they brought some out but it was not cooked. My ten year-old daughter said they probably needed to leave it in the oven for 5 more minutes. Bit, I understand they were busy. Upto this part of the meal I understood. Everyone can have a bad day, but..... After a while of trying to eat my lasagna. I noticed that it was different. I had my wife try it and she confirmed my thoughts. It seemed that it was not seasoned and did not taste like beef. At this point I mentioned it to my waitress. And she told me it is what I ordered. I thought maybe it was me, but after tasting my wife's dish I knew something was wrong. I brought over the hostess and mentioned to her that the beef did not look like or taste like, like beef..   She confirmed that something looked different and returned the dish too the cooking staff to remake it. After second thought I immediately stood up went over to the hostess (less then 1 minute) and let her know that I did not want another plate. Because the meal had spoiled my appetite. She mentioned to me that she would see if we could have the plate removed from my bill because I was not satisfied. She returned to me and let me know that they could not remove the dish from my bill and they wanted me to pay for half of it. Which I thought was more than an insult. She explained to me that she had no control and that's what the owners offered to do. My wife then said this is crazy. One of the owners (a woman) then came over to the table. I explain to them that the meal did not taste correct. And that I was not satisfied with the meal. She then said  to me that they never had a complaint about their lasagna. That she would bring this up with the chef. She stated that her offer stood. I was so frustrated at this point because I was the one who said let's go to this restaurant. I said nevermind. I will pay for the full ib meal. I will give a 20% tip for the service. And I will never come back. The reason why I am writing this review Is because I needed to let people know..  Eaters beware... Something has changed at this restaurant for the worse. I'm not sure if they switch the chefs.   But they need to take a lesson in customer service and it appears they need to take some cooking lessons too..  I guess they are catering to the college clientele. This family of six will never return again. No more recommendations. No more staff lunches. I will be spending my dollars at another Italian food...

This is HANDS DOWN the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to here in Charlotte. They get a full 5 stars without hesitation. The first time I went there was because another Italian restaurant I used to go to was not answering their phone. I figured they were closed due to the virus - this was close to 2 months ago - but yet and still I wanted Italian. I then called Giacomo's randomly and ordered their calamari appetizer. I'm hooked!! This has got to be the BEST tasting calamari I have ever eaten. Their pasta dishes - I love their seafood dishes - and everything else they have on the menu is great. Unfortunately I have to wait for a while before I get to dine in because of this awful virus. But I will be back to dine in.

I'm about to place an order for calamari for pickup in a few minutes. The staff are all very kind and so nice to talk to. As you eat their food, you feel the love and attention they put into their food.

I know this is a long review and I could go on and on, but I'll stop here and hope that you will get a chance to eat here. I guarantee you would be hard pressed to find another Italian restaurant as amazing as this with delicious food!!! I'm on my way now :). Well done, Giacomo's Pizzeria and Italian...

It's a small poor looking restaurant with absolutely not much flavor to any dish. I'm so baffled by their cheese bread (it's actually just bread and cheese like a hoagie roll 😑) Greek salad with no Greek dressing, no options to just get Alfredo no chicken (we don't eat animals) no option to add Alfredo to the white cheese (even a pat option is possible) they had all or 75$ worth of food just sitting in a box ready (cold fries, cold cheese bread, cold zucchini circles that's supposed to be fires) so they could wait for the pizza and got offened bc I asked for MY FOOD I PAID FOR before the pizza was finished. The boy was like we Normally give it at the Sametime, I get that's what you normally do but I'm asking for MY PAID FOR FOOD to be given to me so I can give it to my children while it's at least luke warm and not completely cold bc yall cooked the fastest food first and let it sit to get soggy an cold while Preparing the pizza. I tipped before all of this and I'm so upset I did so. NEVER EVER TIP THEM AHEAD OF TIME BC THEN they absolutely don't have to work for the tip they should earn. I'll NEVER GO BACK.
