WARNING: Disgusting Behavior and Racist Treatment READ THIS CAREFULLY. If you see the owner reply with one of those empty copy-paste apologies, it’s carelessness. This franchise has a deep rot in its staff culture, and they clearly don’t care who’s running the drive-thru.
Let’s walk through what happened, and prepare yourself, because this isn’t just about bad service. It’s about racial stereotyping, verbal abuse, and a flat-out refusal to be held accountable.
My wife, a Hispanic woman, pulled into the drive-thru around 4:50 PM, hoping to grab a quick bite. Simple tacos. The guy on the speaker immediately said they didn’t have any. Fine, maybe they were out. She then asked for chicken. He responded again that they had none. She didn’t quite hear him, so she politely said, “Excuse me? I didn't hear”.... What came next? He SCREAMED through the speaker, “WE HAVE NO CHICKEN!”
She left, shocked, embarrassed, and hurt. She called me immediately in disbelief. “He was yelling,” she said. “Rude. Aggressive. Condescending.” And with a THICK Hispanic accent, which she only mentioned because it stood out. We weren’t suspicious at first, until everything unfolded.
I submitted a formal complaint to Jack in the Box online while simultaneously calling the store over 10 times. No answer. Not once. Same number listed on the website and receipts. Useless.
Once she got home, I jumped in the car and went straight to the location myself.
I was calm and curious. I ordered tacos, the very same ones my wife was told were “not available.” Guess what? The order went through without issue. Not a hiccup. I pulled up to the window and saw a Black male at the window, sagging pants, drawers showing, completely unprofessional.
At that point, I assumed maybe a shift change had occurred. Still, something wasn’t right. I circled back, ready to ask questions and try ordering a chicken sandwich, the other item they supposedly didn’t have. This time, I recorded everything.
Chicken? AVAILABLE. No issues. Smooth order.
Now at the window, I asked who was handling the drive-thru earlier. His answers were bizarre and inconsistent. “It’s been just me,” he said. Wait… what?
That means the guy who screamed at my wife wasn’t Hispanic at all. He was MOCKING a Hispanic accent to belittle her, a Hispanic woman, at a drive-thru window. Let that sink in.
I calmly told him what happened. His reply: “Oh well. Nothing I can do about it right now.” I asked who the manager was. “I’m here by myself.” “So you were here an hour ago?” “Yea, just me, so what?”
When I told him she was told they had no tacos or chicken and that she was yelled at, he barely reacted. Just brushed it off with “we didn’t have it then,” then slammed the window on me.
While I stood there stunned, I watched him toss the sandwich onto the counter carelessly, then stuff it sideways into a bag with the opening facing down. Filthy, lazy handling. When I asked who to complain to next time about attitude, he closed the window in my face. Again.
So now I ask the Jack in the Box OWNER:
What will you do now? Not say, but do! You’ve got this employee listed on the receipt as “Damesia.” Is he still employed? Why is a single person being left to run the store alone on a weekend when it’s clearly documented in past reviews this location is severely understaffed?
And most importantly, why is it acceptable to scream at customers, lie about food availability, then MOCK their ethnicity and gender in return?
If I don’t receive a real answer, expect this to go beyond reviews. I’ll go public. I’ll take this to corporate. I’ll escalate it on every channel and share the RECORDED VIDEO that documents this disgraceful behavior.
To those reading: if this enrages you like it enraged me, don’t let it slide. Leave your own review. Share this. Because clearly, silence is what lets these places keep people like that on payroll.
I'm not here for “we’ll do better next time.” I want to know exactly what action was taken and when this employee was terminated.

Read moreI've been coming to this location for a while now and actually really enjoyed the service and the people who worked here, as they were genuinely friendly and accommodating, especially to repeat customers like me. But as of the past 6 to 9 months, it's exceedingly hard to recommend this location not because the staff or service is any worse; it's that the service is frequently NONEXISTENT as this facility is simply NOT open and serving food at the hours it advertises itself as doing, both in the building's signage and the information on their website. This is a problem I have noticed at multiple Jack in the Box locations in my city, which is inherently a very bad sign because Jack in the Box simply does not have THAT MANY locations in my city to begin with. That number certainly isn't going to increase if this is the standard of service people grow to associate with this franchise. I went to their Cotswold location after working my night-shift, which I done on a regular basis in the past due to the location being open 24 hours a day, as advertised. However, they have recently started suffering the same problem that I am describing here (you can see my review on that location's page for more information, which will hopefully help prevent you from wasting your time like I did). Frustrated but still hungry and wanting to get Jack in the Box, I assumed that I had just had consistently poor luck with this franchise and its locations in my city, and assumed that their Cotswold location was, yet again, probably having a "bad day", and I resolved to drive to THIS location as an alternative and not take things too personally. This location is advertised as being open 24 hours a day, at least for the drive-thru, on all the signage on the building. However, online, they are apparently advertised as opening at 6 AM and closing at 3AM. Apparently none of these listed times are accurate, as I arrived here at 7 AM, waited like 10 minutes in the Drive-Thru for somebody to actually answer me. After taking the time to write this review it is now a little bit past 8 AM, and I'm going to try my luck again. I'm not holding my breath though, at this point at least. If you advertise your location as being open 24 hours a day, it needs to be open 24 hours a day barring an emergency or change of circumstance. If you advertise your location as only being open between certain hours, your location needs to be open and serving food during those specified hours. I even tried calling their listed 24-hour "Help/Let us know how we're doing/Make Complaints Here"-phone number that they had listed in the signage on the side of their building. Nobody even picked up there. How apropos. Jack in the Box HQ; get your locations here in charlotte, North Carolina in gear, along with their staff, and please STOP wasting your customer base's time, energy & gasoline. Not following through on that basic expectation is how you lose a customer-base. And this location illustrates that more concretely than others; there is a McDonald's operating literally right next door to this Jack in the Box location, and I've been watching them properly serve the customers that arrive there the entire time I've been sitting here and waiting. People have other options when it comes to filling this need, and they WILL take their money elsewhere if you give them enough reasons. If this trend with Jack in the Box locations in Charlotte is not remedied relatively promptly, I will start doing the...
