This was my first time eating at Maria's. I ordered the two taco dishes, I thought it would come with a side. My family ordered a little more, even with what they ordered, it was still expensive. I do take into account the price of eating out since Covid has risen. However, nothing like what the economy is going through now. Tariff are out of control but, consumers are the one's keeping the businesses opening. Why are we paying the bills. Now that I think more about this, let's talk about it. The customers are paying to keep these places operational by paying already high prices, now we have to pay even more. So, everyone jumped on the opportunity to hike up prices, using the pandemic as an excuse. Even places like the T word and the W word who knows good dog gone well, they are well in the good n plenty overflow. But Nooooo, the bandwagon drove by and all the big corporations jumped on the bandwagon. Well well well, let me give a big wake up call. Just keep it up because everyday people are cutting back on spending money to eat out. When mom and pop stores catch the revelation that they can have all this business, they will come up with marketing strategies. I hope they are reading this post. I am all in. Has anyone seen how small a roll of toilet has gotten down to? I cant even wipe the tip of my fingernail dry, with the one ply. More like .05 ply. Oh how they lie in our face and raise tariffs behind our backs, those backstabbers. Well, this went left field, very quick. Sorry, I had to get this off my chest, publicly, so others can see what's really going on. Needless, to say more. Except for a question: What's the oldest and most read book, of all times? The Bible! Read it for yourself. The last chapter, Revelation, what I mentioned above, is all up in the end of times, Revelation. McDonalds has gotten much better. I do suggest the managers become more knowledgeable about the app and discounts. Ok!...

It was super crowded tonight which I was surprised by, and then I realized it was Taco Tuesday. The place is really small, and the booths move when you sit in them which is unnerving. We all ordered quesabirria tacos, and I was super excited to order them from an authentic Mexican restaurant. We also got a side of rice, plantains as an appetizer, and spinach dip. EVERYTHING was awful, lemme explain.
The beef needed flavor, the consommé it came with was similarly bland, and the rice needed salt. I bit into my tacos and it was like I bit into nothing combined with juice and the melted cheese; but the meat itself didn’t take like anything at all. The rice, for me and my sister, was very mushy like it was made with too much water; I think I tasted a hint of cumin (which I hate) and literally nothing else. It’s like the rice was made with no seasoning. I love maduros so much, but these plantain tasted off, they actually tasted more like a banana (and they do taste different). The spinach dip was not like you’d get at an American restaurant. I didn’t try it but my mother did. The consistency was soooo thin, and she said it was like milk with spinach in it. We sent it back. As soon as we requested this, our waitress got an attitude and pretty much stopped coming to our table. We wanted to order more plantain, but she ran away.
I decided not to finish the two tacos I had left and my rice so I could bring them home and season them myself. I paid for the full meal because I felt so bad bringing my family there. Atmosphere uncomfortable, our server in particular super rude, and the food super flavorless. I’m so...
Read moreFirst, getting into the parking lot is a nightmare, and then the parking...well, expect to get a door ding or have a tough time getting back into your car. They made the space in between way too narrow. When you walk in, it's small. Much like the parking lot, they tried to pack way too much into too little of space.
I've gone twice bc I heard they had great barria options, but the first time I ordered off the regular menu. Guacamole dip, great. Horchata, not so great (watery and weird taste). Mango margarita, fabulous. I saw they had Mole Ranchero and was excited bc I love authentic mole sauce. You can taste that it was from a jar and not authentic. I don't know, the color seemed off too. (See pic for reference) Maybe it was their own recipe, but not a fan of the taste, and the chicken was so dry and chewy, I stopped eating it.
If you come here, really only ask for the birria menu, it's what they are known for. The first time was the traditional birria tacos, and they were great. The second time was the birria crunch. This was basically a tostada in between two soft tortillas, the birria meat and cheese. The cheese wasn't melted, the dipping broth tasted almost minty so not good, and it came with fries. The fries were okay, but I remember not liking the rice last time so that's what I went with.
Is the birria meat good, yes. Would I venture off their menu to try anything else again, no. Can I get better birria options in the city, you bet. I do like the menu for the birria options bc they give pictures on the back as well This place is not in the best location, it's cramped, I had to find the waitress to ask for a refill, and it's a bit pricey. However, if you are military or police, you get a...
