Just like everyone else, I LOVE BBQ. I have never tried Carolina BBQ and Carolina Sauce in Carolina, but I have wanted to forever. So I took an airplane ride to Charlotte and I got me some Carolina BBQ with Carolina Sauce. I hear that if you don't make the sauce in Carolina, it can't be real Carolina Sauce... and I like to think that I have a great Carolina Sauce recipe. I am also the co-founder of @Texas BBQ Bash, a sanctioned competition in Texas... Quite frankly, it's better than I even imagined!!! WOW WOW WOW. Way to go Midwood Smokehouse on Park Road in Charlotte. Seriously, best sauce I have ever tasted, and the meats and side dishes are such a mingling of greatness. The Sauce...It's thin in texture, so it goes on light, it's bold like the drool of sassy harmonica. As the saliva glands payed tribute to their new prisoners of consumption, the wonderful and mild tartness escaped toward my stomach at a full run. Like a tequila sunset making its way across my lips and down the back side of tongue, I seemed to have lost myself momentarily in the indulgence of the moment. I can now check that bucket item off the bucket list. Not 100% sure, but I think I may have just made love to some Carolina BBQ and Sauce. .

So my wife ordered a side of ribs with hush puppies and mac and cheese and banana pudding on the side. I ordered the Texas sandwich and sweet potato fries. The first problem is that they forgot the banana pudding and i had to drive back to get the pudding. So at least the person was nice to get me the pudding and another order of hush puppies (even though I wanted a beer for my troubles...) I get back and my wife tells me that the ribs was quite dry with the dry rub but the flavor was still good, but it was overcooked. The second batch of the hush puppies were better than the first which were burnt. The mac and cheese had too much flour and not enough cheese and tasted pretty grainy. The Banana pudding tasted like too much whipped cream and not any actual pudding was used and was too sweet (for someone whose trying not to be a diabetic) My texas sandwich was pretty good, probably just slightly dry. Overall If there was better care to the order this would probably be 4 or 5 stars

Listen!!! The service was impeccable, thank you Aaliyah!!! The food was amazing, I chose the Well Fed combo platter and I was definitely well fed! All of the items were seasoned and cooked to perfection! Their ribs were soft, tender, juicy, fall off the bone juicy and so delicious that I ate them without BBQ sauce and for me that's the greatest compliment I could ever give! The brisket was tender my fork cut through it with minimal effort, the jalapeno sausage was busting with flavor, the bacon wrapped jalapeno peppers were delightful, the pulled chicken was tender and flavorful. Oh yeah! The banana pudding was light, full of flavor and ultra enjoyable! I will highly recommend and return just for this meal next time I'm in Charlotte North Carolina! And, the price is fantastic! Did I mention the hush puppies?! Wow perfectly prepared; crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and full of flavor in every bite.

Outstanding!

The moment we stepped inside, we were hit with these unreal BBQ smells that promise a good meal ahead.

Those Memorable Burnt Ends... And Then Some Now, let’s talk burnt ends. Imagine brisket so flavorful and delicately smoked that it simply melts in your mouth upon the very first encounter. The burnt ends at Midwood Smokehouse were precisely that, embodying a rich, smoky sweetness with every tender bite, crafting a culinary masterpiece from seemingly simple ingredients. And as if that wasn’t enough to skyrocket our BBQ experience, let’s not forget the tender and tangy Carolina pork that followed. Succulent, with a zesty kick, and cooked to absolute perfection - the pork was a triumphant celebration of what Carolina BBQ represents. And let's not gloss over the fall-off-the-bone ribs that deserve a special mention. So, whether you're drawn to the luscious, rich brisket or the vibrant, tender pork, your taste buds are in for an unforgettable journey at this bbq hotspot.

Stellar Service: Even with a busy lunch, the service was nothing short of impressive. Our server was not just knowledgeable about the menu, but also super friendly and easy to talk to, making the meal even more enjoyable

Vibe: And it's not just about great food. The whole vibe at Midwood Smokehouse was lively and inviting. It's the kind of place where you can feel the energy of happy diners and staff who genuinely enjoy being there.

Sides: Though the BBQs were the star, the sides held their own. From vibrant, tangy coleslaw to deeply flavorful baked beans, every plate was a hit, complementing the main dishes perfectly.

To sum it up, Midwood Smokehouse isn’t just a dining spot—it’s an experience. With its combo of top-notch food, friendly service, and lively atmosphere, it's a must-visit for anyone and everyone looking...

If you’re really from the south and you’re used to that gooooood, flavorful, well cooked bbq… this is not the place or maybe I just went on a terrible night.

The environment was nice and the staff was mostly helpful but not overly friendly, especially the lady behind the bar.. you can tell she was ready to go.

I ordered the bbq plate with Mac n cheese and baked beans. The baked beans were delicious and so were the pickles 🙂. The mac n cheese looked like Kraft Mac n cheese. The cheese was almost too creamy and the noodles were hard. I immediately knew off of appearance alone, I needed to try it before pulling off and after tasting those hard noodles I took it back in and asked for something else. The manager helped me this time and he was VERY helpful. You can tell he cares about the reputation of the restaurant. He asked if I wanted a different scoop and I agreed but it was the entire batch I guess.. the noodles were just not cooked all the way.

The BBQ was decent… just decent nothing special. There’s no mission bbq here in CLT but if you’ve ever had it.. the chain restaurant is better than this.

After reading the rest of the lower reviews it confirmed the uncomfortable feeling that I had as a black woman in there. The only super welcoming person was the manager and that was after I returned with my order. Maybe it’s a cultural thing as to why some of us don’t like the food or the experience and others had a...

Very consistent and very good. My wife and i go fairly often. Its world class BBQ. The brisket is amazing. We like the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers and the side salad - which is a good fresh salad with a midwestern style with corn and back beans.

The platters have good portions. Small platters include 1 side, large platters give you 2 sides and so much meat we normally take some home for tomorrows lunch

The Midwood Smokehouse at Park Road Shopping Center is in the backlot - its a little odd to drive behind the main shopping center and find stuff hidden back there if you’re new to the area.

The bar at this location is a bit small and hard to get a seat at the bar. They usually have a good craft beer selection on top and a good whiskey selection. This location feels a little less like a trendy bar than the one in Elizabeth.

Its usually busy but we hardly ever have to wait for a table and the service is consistently good. Less crowded and less loud than Macs on South Boulevard and the food is just as good.

If you want a great relaxed date night, get a little dressed up, go to Dot Dot Dot for a drink and walk next door to Midwood for dinner (maybe 50 feet away). Parking is usually full near the front door but easy to find a little farther away on...
