The only reason I gave a 1 star review is because I couldn't give a 0 star review. If I could give a 0 star review I would. Went there today 08/17/19. We arrived at around 5pm (appx). We were originally greeted by a very nice gentleman who continued to be nice throughout the entire experience. Unfortunately he was only responsible for serving drinks. He was the ONLY positive part of our experience. There was 8 of us (we went as a family). The waitress was an older woman (probably 50 or older) she claimed to be the manager. The first question she asked was "will you be splitting the check or will it be all together?" We thought that was strange especially since we had not yet ordered but we blew it off and kept ordering. We ordered shrimp scampi, 3 plates of meatballs and spaghetti, chicken in alfredo sauce and shrimp, chicken parmesan and penne al salmone. The chicken in Alfredo was not good and my mother in law didn't eat it. She decided she wanted the shrimp scampi instead. We asked the waitress to exchange the meal. She stated "that's what she ordered!". We explained that my mother in law did not like the food. She said with an attitude "we'll see what we can do". I then said to her, please take the meal off. She said "no problem". We then asked for the check. When the check came she charged us for an extra side of bread, an "open meal" and a side salad in addition to the meals we actually did order. When I questioned the bill before my husband paid it, she then proceeded to argue with me. We paid the bill and left. We are an African American family. When we walked in we saw how she looked at us along with the rest of the staff. I guess they didn't expect a black family would be able to afford a $150 meal. We will NEVER eat there again. If you are looking for a comfortable atmosphere and are not of caucasian decent, perhaps you should look...
Read moreI have loved this restaurant for so long but my entire experience this past time was extremely disappointing. My girlfriends and I went a few days ago as it’s a classic dinner place for us. Our waiter was very unconcerned with our experience and we felt extremely dismissed. He returned 3 times to ask what kind of wine I had ordered and was extremely unprofessional. I was brought out a dish that I did not order and I sent it back with the food runner and our waiter returned with THE SAME EXACT PLATE and tried to gaslight me on what I ordered. It was so bizarre. They did get me what I ordered (15 minutes later) which I understand but my dish was absolutely over buttered and over salted and honestly unpalatable. I didn’t send it back I just asked for the bill when the time came. The bill then came out and I was charged for the dish that I didn’t order and I asked (very nicely) if he could just adjust the price he then AGAIN tried to gaslight me saying the price was the same. Someone else in our party ordered the same thing as me and I knew for a fact it was different and argued my point a little further. When he returned. He had just adjusted the bill by a smaller amount than what was owed and left with a snarky attitude. I know he expected me not to tip because I had my bill adjusted but I left over 20% and I hope he’s nicer to the next patrons and that management seriously considers a meeting on customer service and manners in the serving industry as a single dish of pasta here is around $15-$18 without an added protein. I feel that with the price being as high as it is the bare minimum that can be expected is respect not being blatantly disrespected by some young kid with a high and...
Read moreI gave this restaurant a one only because of the waiter that served me. The food is excellent. The bread is also very good. I got Chicken Pacotta, and my son Chicken Parm, and my brother got another chicken dish. Delicious no complaints.
I am from New Jersey and was told to go to Portofino's because they have excellent Italian food which they did.
My brother and son ate all of their food but I did not I had part of my chicken dinner left and some salad. I asked for more salad dressing and the Waiter told me it will cost me $2.50. for a little round plastic container (that tater sauce might come in)
I told him I was not going to paid 2.50 for that I could go to the supermarket and buy a whole bottle for that price. I said in New jersey they just would give it to me. He said you are not in NewJersey you are in Charlotte NC.
First of all he shouldn't be waiting on people talking to customers like that. I was in Charlotte a full week visiting. Some restaurant were more upscale and some restaurants were local but, when we asked for more butter, bread, or ketchup it was never a problem. Except for Portofinos. Which he blamed it on Charlotte Resturants upcharging.
I truly will not recommend this place to anyone with such upcharges and arguing with customers. The waiter is the older gentlemen. He needs training and Jesus. One bad apple...
