This is my brutally honest review of Your Farms Your Table created by local legend Chef Sam Diminich. For full transparency, at the time of this review I am on the YFYT team as a meal assembler and delivery driver.
I JUMPED at the opportunity to join the team and I will talk more about this later in the review!
We have been a YFYT customer since its inception in 2020, so it’s safe to say we are a family of mega fans for the work Chef Sam is doing in Charlotte!
Everything everyone has said about the food is absolutely true. SO much care is taken by Chef Sam, Chef Leland, and the rest of the staff to create the most world class farm-to-your-table experience through creative dishes and intentional pairings. Whether you’re getting a cobb salad, jumbo crab cakes, or one of chef’s fine selection of homemade tarts, know that your taste buds are about to be well taken care of. I’m a sauce connoisseur, and YFYTs salad dressings, bbq sauces, aiolis, etc are top of the line!
While the final product speaks for itself, I’d like to focus more of this review on the mission, which is the biggest reason I wanted to get involved. Chef Sam originally started YFYT as a way to support local farms during the pandemic. He wanted to save farms he cared about from going under during Covid’s economic pressures. For the benefit of all of us, YFYT went from a side hustle to a major success and has taken the city by storm!
You’re here looking at reviews so I’m sure you have heard the undeniable accolades. He beat Bobby Flay on TV. He’s the personal chef for Carolina Panthers stars (including CMC), NASCAR drivers, and Charlotte FC players. He has one of the fastest growing food delivery services and a new restaurant on the way. And with every reason and excuse imaginable to justify having a massive ego, he is the complete opposite of that.
Witnessing Chef Diminich’s servant heart on a daily basis is truly inspiring to me as another small business owner. In a restaurant industry dominated by egos, Chef Sam genuinely has a heart of gold and is focused on his impact to help others. He wants to help local farms and give opportunities to those going through recovery. His story is well documented so if you haven’t heard about it, I advise you to listen to it. Most of our team is currently in recovery or has successfully completed recovery thanks to Chef Sam’s mentorship. While I am not in recovery myself, I have learned so much in such a short period of time about the recovery culture and challenges I had no idea about. To know I am working alongside others who might not have had an opportunity for employment or a livelihood is a fantastic feeling. The culture here is one towards second chances and hope, and I FEEL that every time I step in the kitchen. I truly enjoy everyone I have met on the staff and I get the sense we are all working hard to see this thing through to its fullest potential. We have pride towards the YFYT experience, supporting the farms that grow truly nutritious food and need our help, and supporting those in recovery.
If you are considering giving YFYT a shot, let this be your sign! I dare you to find a restaurant or food service in Charlotte more genuinely focused on servanthood than this one. And know that when you support us, you are directly supporting local farms and giving opportunities to those...
Read moreAfter so many trusted sources told us we needed to try Chef Sam's new concept, we decided it would be the perfect anniversary dinner.
Covid-19: this is a ghost kitchen operation, so there's no physical restaurant. Your meal gets delivered to your front door by someone wearing a mask who takes the time to explain the concept to you.
I love that everything comes from local farms and is incredibly fresh. There is now a rotating schedule for the main course. The appetizer and dessert are still chef's choice based on what ingredients he gets for the day.
We decided to order on lasagna night. Our meal came with: Sammy's Spinach Salad, My Dad's Lasagna, and Melted Pear Cheesecake.
Everything was fantastic. It was the best lasagna I've ever had. I'm not usually one to order a salad, but this salad was amazing. The mustard vinaigrette was delicious. I loved the soft boiled egg and fresh cut bacon. It was topped with a ton of delicous shrimp. The dessert was top notch as well.
Each 3 course meal is $30 which honestly feels like a deal to me considering how local/fresh everything was and that it was delivered to our house.
We've heard we need to try the sake marinated fish, beef short rib, and crab cake too, so I guess we just need to order every meal!
This place is a must...
Read moreI ordered for YFYT two nights in a row while I was moving out of my apartment last weekend. It was absolutely wonderful! I have a gluten allergy and the dessert was labeled to ensure me it was gluten free on the first night. The second night there must have been a mix up and I received what appeared to be a non-gluten free dessert. I texted to inquire if it was in fact not gluten free, completely unbothered if it wasn’t, just didn’t want to get sick. They refunded my entire order! I didn’t even ask or want a refund….because the food is so amazing even without dessert (I was able to give the dessert to a loved one). That being said, I would come back time and time again, not only for the phenomenal food but also for the next level...
