Where to begin... On New Years day I thought I'd treat my girlfriend to an Ethiopian meal. I called Queen Sheeba ahead of time and asked if they had Sombousas as it's my girlfriend's favorite. The woman who answered said they did. When we got there she said they didn't have any, and the restaurant was in a sketchy part of town. It didn't seem dangerous but it was located in an odd location. Not where I would think a restaurant would be. There was garbage all over the parking lot and strange people just lingering around. Inside the restaurant the floors were sticky, and I had to get up from my table to get service. The food didn't taste fresh and the meals that were on the website menu, we were told, were not available to order. I understand running out of certain items, but all of the items we wanted weren't available.I also noticed that the napkins at the table were cocktail napkins. I've been to plenty of Ethiopian restaurants and this one was by far the worst one I've ever been to. All things said, I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Please...
Read moreThis is the best Ethiopian place in Charlotte hands down. One of the best in the country. As to the other reviewer's negative comments - I was there the week of the Groupon special. The small team at the restaurant was not ready for the demand which may have led to issues with service though my food was excellent as always. I have never had a bad meal here though I will say the language barrier with some of the staff can be challenging. I don't care. Price, authenticity and quality are top notch. Go downtown if you want the Americanized version with high prices and small servings. I know for a fact if you have an issue with the food the owner will replace it with a dish of your liking though I've never needed to do that. Only negative is the neighborhood. Just go...
Read moreI’m from out of town and limited options due to my vegan lifestyle. Did a google search and found Queen Sheba. They have vegan options and decent reviews. Drove there and took a chance. I waited over an hour for my food however I do not believe this is their standard. They only had one person holding down the entire restaurant. Unfortunately by the time I got back to my hotel, my food was cold (at no fault to the restaurant because it was hot when I left there). The flavor was different probably because of that. Unable to microwave it because the container was foam to go. The samosa’s were HUGE and very tasty but because they got cold they weren’t as flaky as they probably were when they...
