The BEST Reuben I’ve had in North Carolina! That Russian sauce was perfect, the meat stacked high, yes!!!!!! In Detroit I always ask for the old dill, here they call them sour. Look at my video of the inside of the sandwich. Just writing about it, I’m ready to go back for more!
Here’s why!!! Since moving to Davidson, we have been disappointed, “over and over again” with deli food in the Tar Heel State. We popped into Optimist Hall for a bite, I approached Schreiber’s on Rye, and my husband said, no way! I won’t be disappointed again. He rushed off to eat something else. I met Neil, the chief of operations, and told him about what we back in Detroit have grown up eating and how nothing has come close in NC.
Neil told me about the owner’s ties to New York, and their mission to bring that authentic NY Deli taste to NC. He persuaded me & I am so glad I took the chance! In fact they had cut the sandwich in half and Pete (the greatest critic of all time when it comes to food) sat down and tasted it. I could see immediately the approval in every bite he took because he didn’t give that half sandwich back to me.
Do not hesitate, stop by & taste the best NY inspired deli sandwich in the area. I promise, you won’t regret...
Read moreI really really wanted to love this place. I love a NY Deli! That had to be one of the most disgusting sandwiches I have had in 50 years and I have seen it all. I got the corn beef "Lower East Side". They chop the corn beef up until it's almost a baby food consistency and then add the mustard and it's a gooey unappealing mess with no bite. The meat now has the texture of regurgitated meat that has been chewed and then warmed and it's disgusting. Like I said, I love a good NY Deli but this is just gross. They are friendly but I don't get the concept. I saw them making a sandwich while I was ordering and thought...that looks gross but figured it was another kind I was not ordering because why would you turn it into a paste. I would suggest you get a flight to NYC and see how a real deli makes sandwiches. Maybe I am not the target demographic...maybe they are gearing it towards the elderly who don't have teeth and can't chew up their own food. Anyway...there is a reason there was no long line at this place...it's...
Read moreThis place was amazing. I am from NY and felt right at home with the wonderful food! It was busy and we were trying to figure out what we wanted. The person taking our order was not that friendly and looked like he did not want to be there that day.
I ordered the 1/2 Pastrami sandwich and pickle for $12 and my husband ordered the Corn beef full sandwich with a pickle for $18. We also got a knish, which was so good and 2 diet cream sodas and it was $43 dollars for everything.
The only disadvantage to this place is that it’s at the food hall and it’s hard to get parking and over 90 minutes it’s $5.00 parking. Also, seating on weekend to eat was difficult as it was crowded.
I would love to frequent more often if it was a stand alone restaurant. A lot of effort to get this wonderful NY...
