I'm trying to not sound like a karen but Slingshot has such good potential but judged by my and my friends' experiences tonight, that potential has been wasted. TLDR: Ski ball glitched too much and the service wasn't good. I wasn't told my food was ready. Other arcade games were in disrepair and not maintained well. For the details see below.
-For a hip looking place like this, their food selection was scarce and overpriced.
-I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries. I waited 30 min to be texted my food was ready. I went to the pick up window to check on it and could see it waiting on the counter in the kitchen. There was no staff in the kitchen. I asked a bartender watching the TV for some help and he gave me my food. Judged by its almost room temperature, the food was probably sitting there for 15 min. It's a shame because it was actually really good.
The ski ball was fun but it would have been better if it wasn't glitching. It sometimes wouldn't count a ball that scored. Or it would end someone's frame early and give the score to the following player. We switched lanes in the middle of the second (and last) game we played but encountered similar technical problems on the new lane.
-I am not sure if all the good staff was off tonight but the customer service wasn't great (in addition to what I have already written). The lady who rung us up for ski ball didn't explain well the process of how things worked. When one of my friends went to get mustard for his pretzel, a couple of the guys sitting (you read that right) at the bar went back to get some for him. Maybe I wasn't notified my food was ready because the kitchen staff was too busy watching the football game at the bar?...
Read moreI stepped in this joint to enjoy some drinks and games with my friends. I am roughly in my mid-thirties and my friends are around that age too. If you are a little “older” like me, the first thing you have to realize is that Slingshot caters to the “young professionals” of South End. So expect to be surrounded by a bunch of 23-25 year olds and recent college graduates the entire time you’re here. That’s not the fault of Slingshot more than you’re in South End. You know, South End, the crowd that partied through Covid and pretended it wasn’t even happening? Yeah, that crowd. If you’re that age then this is a great place to go and meet people. If you’re not, prepare to feel like a chaperone. Before I sound like a grumpy old grandpa shaking my cane (haha I’m not), I will say the selection of games here is fantastic and it was pretty awesome to see some novel interpretations of classic games, like Skeeball in the style of a bowling match and air hockey banking off of a wall. Speaking of walls…my biggest criticism is the beer wall. While a beer wall is always a nice touch, I was deeply put off by the fact nearly all of the beers I tried had to be poured at a 90 degree angle as instructed. Even doing so, I couldn’t avoid the massive amounts of head these taps put out which made the beer virtually undrinkable in my opinion. This is not a problem with other beer walls around the city. If those are the prospects, I’d prefer someone to hand me a Bud Light in a bottle than a nice IPA as straight foam. Hopefully they can fix this, because otherwise, Slingshot is a fun place to hang out, especially for...
Read moreThis place kind of reminded me of queen park social except this was a lot bigger and gave more of a variety of different games and different options. My husband and I were walking around southend on a Saturday afternoon and stumbled upon this place. We didn't have an egenda in mind and just wanted to enjoy the outdoors. We walked in, and they are very spacious with a free photo booth in the front and multiple bowling lanes with ski ball games as well. They have a self pour beer section. You grab your glass, scan your credit or debit card, and start pouring. There is also a bar with seating if you decide you want something other than beer. They also have a room filled with arcade games, and I was sooooo stoked to see that they had GUITAR HERO! my all-time favorite, and u was there most of my time there. Unfortunately a lot of the other games we tried to play such as dance dance revolution, beer pong and a shooting game, they were either out of order or just ate up our credits so that left with limited choices. They do have small sections with a lot of board games to choose from, sorry, trouble, cards, etc. They have an outside patio, which wr made use off and two big games of Connect four. We went around 2 pm, so it definitely was not busy at all, which we loved, but I can see how it can get quite busy and packed during a Friday or Saturday night. Quite a good time. Recommend it if you want something casual and not a total night club scene. They do have attached paid parking lot beside this location, or if you're lucky, you can find side...
