Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte — Local services in Charlotte

When it comes to a religious organization you would expect that they would protect our religious rights. This organization has violated my religious freedom by imposing me to perform a sin. Regardless of one’s personal opinion when it comes to vaccines, God has given us the free will to do what we believe it is right or wrong based on our faith and relationship with God. I have vaccinated my daughter with all vaccines that did not contain aborted fetus cells, but upon registering my child into a catholic school I was told they would not accept my child since MMR was not given. This is certainly a violation with the NC law that allows my religious exemption, but the worse think is that they would not accept and demanded I would sin and go against my beliefs. The Vatican in the early 2000’s stated that this issue would be at the parents hands, God have us the great privilege to be parents and raise our children to follow Jesus, therefore the decision should be done by us. Bishop Jugis is wrong and against religious freedom by forcing poison into our children’s body. After all our body is the temple of Christ, we are only stewards of it and injecting toxic substances is sure not the way to do it. They'll celebrate the Mass but they won't respond when you write to them about vocations and wanting to be a priest?

I thought it was a major mission for them to get priests recruited local. Here I am born and raised, Catholic school my whole life in the diocese. Nothing. I get plenty of mail from them asking for my money to support seminarians already in the pipeline, but not even a peep about my inquiries for myself... I don't understand.

I wish churches here were more accessible, more chapels open 24/7 or simply chapels at all. Places to bask in the Real Presence whenever you need it. All the churches are very restrictive in when you can access them and if there are programs available, retreats, etc. for vocational discernment, practicing faith, all this, I have no access to them and don't know how to find out if they even exist.

Please do better with your own congregants. Assume every young man or woman that attends is secretly harboring a desire to enter the religious life, because maybe like half the guys I talk to actually are and all of them are at least open to it. Approach them and literally just ask. It won't be awkward. We just want to know how to pursue it.
