EDIT: 4/25 If you enjoy your sleep and donât like to be woken up by fights, lots of noise, sometimes gunshots, and loud cars almost 7 nights a week anywhere from 11pm-3am, DO NOT move anywhere in the Prospect that is facing the street along W. Carson Blvd across from the bar Dream CLT, because thatâs exactly what will happen when you move to this side of the building. Itâs not ideal whatsoever.
Since Vest took over for Graystar, the resident events have been much better, as they hired a 3rd party to have them, so thatâs an overall positive improvement. Usually twice a month now, which have been great. Unfortunately the TVâs on the rooftop are constantly never working. Thereâs always one out. Itâs never worked since we moved back in 2023. Email communications have also been better since the new management company took over.
Iâd like to start by saying we have had an overall good experience so far. This is a very nice property, and a great location. Havenât had a lot of issues with the apartment itself as some other people in the building have. Love being in the middle of South End and Uptown, but if youâre looking for a luxury building and community this isnât it. Itâs a shame because it has a lot of potential. The property has lots of space and a nice pool though. Residents are very welcoming and nice which is a positive.
A few things we feel need to be improved on are resident eventsâŠwe can count on one hand the amount of events (outside of a weekend one hour brunch). When we first moved in (August 2023) events were so much better and more organized but they have been lacking as the building has gotten more full. With the âupscaledâ lifestyle they promote and great spaces available, youâd expect more community focused events. Prior to move in we were told of the crazy amount of resident events they had planned. Not sure what happened with that. The other negative comment is that the TVâs and sound system on the rooftop often breakdown and stop working, so donât expect to be able to relax and enjoy them. There are no trash bins outside the property (front or back) which also makes disposing of dog waste a pain. That should change. Grills are often broken.
Edit: Unfortunately the latest event (first real event from spring) was a disaster. If you donât arrive right when the event starts, there will be no food left for you. Arrived at 7 (1 hour after it started) and there was no food left. Very disappointed with how little time and effort is put into these resident events. This isnât the first time that food has run out early either. With the building nearly full, there should be more thought into the amount of food for the amount of people who live here. On a side note, the accordion...
Read moreThe Prospect's Empty Promise of Security As a young, single female living alone, my top priority when choosing an apartment was security. I explicitly selected The Prospect in Charlotte, NC, and was willing to pay a significantly higher rent because of the "added security" that was heavily advertised and reinforced during my tour. I believed I was investing in peace of mind. Instead, I've found myself in a nightmare of insecurity and victim blaming.
In less than a year, my car has been broken into not once, but twice, with personal belongings stolen. To add insult to injury, I've also had a package stolen right from the property. These incidents are not isolated; they are a direct consequence of The Prospect's blatant failure to maintain the very security measures they promise.
Many of the advertised security features are non-operational. The "gated" parking garage gate is consistently broken, rendering it completely useless. Even more alarming, numerous key fob entry doors throughout the complex are also broken, meaning literally anyone can walk into the parking garage and access every single level of the building without a key fob. This isn't just an inconvenience; it's an open invitation to criminals.
I've personally experienced the terrifying reality of this lax security. One evening, returning home very late from the airport, I found a group of individuals blasting music and loitering in the parking garage. The moment I approached, they immediately fled, confirming my fears.
The most infuriating part is The Prospect's response, or lack thereof. They acknowledge the issue â they even sent out a community email admitting to an "increase in break-ins" â yet their solution was to tell us, the residents, to "be more vigilant." This while their own security infrastructure was crumbling around us! Criminals, by nature, take the path of least resistance, and The Prospect was clearly doing absolutely nothing to deter them.
When I confronted management about these critical failures, simply asking them to take accountability for their broken security systems and ensure they were operational and functioning, I was met with complete indifference and, unbelievably, further blame. They took zero action to fix the accessible points that make this "luxury" property a criminal's playground.
To pay such a high price for an apartment, only to be treated so awfully as a victim of repeated theft in a property that claims to be luxurious and secure, is unacceptable. I would strongly advise anyone considering The Prospect to look elsewhere. The promise of security is nothing but a facade, and your safety will be...
Read moreUpdated: Let me start by staying that the apartments itself are nice and could be maintained better while tenant concerns could be addressed in a more thoughtful manner in my opinion.
I've lived here for an year and here are the issues we've run into while living at the Prospect:
We moved in February but none of the showers were usable for 3 days because the drains were clogged with paint.
Garage doors do not work frequently. And the walk in garage door doesnt shut properly and is open 80% of the time (anyone can walk in anytime).
Biggest concern was the intruder who walked straight through the lobby entrance of the leasing office with a mask on, somehow got in the elevator and walked straight into my apartment on the 5th floor while I had to go across the hall to a different unit to brush my teeth.
It was also concerning that there was a stranger who was drug overdosed in the parking garage 2 weeks ago.
Our water from the fridge is not drinkable. If you leave the water in the glass for a few hours, you will see a something red visible in it. Our water filter light is red and we've filed service requests multiple times but we were told that it is normal for the light to be red. So now we have to boil our drinking water.
Fetch: Loses many packages and the packages never arrive on time. It has a 1.4 start rating on Google and I dont understand why anyone used such a service where no one has a pleasant experience.
If it is am emergency package (for example: my work laptop), I got it delivered directly to the apartment, and not once but twice they leasing office had declined to accept the packaged (according to notes from UPS)
Parking Passes: If you have someone visiting you during the weekend or at night during any day, there is no way to get a parking pass as they should be collected from the leasing office.
we had to pay the full amount of rent for the month of April, when we were without a washer/dryer and a master bathroom for 2 weeks due to a leak in one of the apartments below us.
I was not going to post this review but I've had enough because in late December I toured a new apartment in the building to move into since and management said we will send you the lease in time and now I see that the apartment itself is not available anymore. I have been travelling abroad for the last 6 weeks and it is really frustrating to come back home to find...
