I've lived here a little over two years in a B3 unit (2 bedroom/2 bath). Overall, the complex is in good shape and I have enjoyed living here. However, as I've searched for other apartments in the area I believe the rent they charge is too high for the amenities and quality of living offered
Pro's: LOCATION: by far the best part of this apartment. Walking distance to both South End (5-20 minutes depending on location) and Bank of America stadium( 5 minutes) Parking garage is easily accessible Street parking when there is not a stadium event 24/7 gym access Walk in closets Full size, in-unit washer and dryer Large windows Under 10 minute walk to a LightRail stop (Carson)
Con's: The bedroom windows allow a LOT of noise in. I can hear cars on I-277 and there is a train track about 50 yards which trains will blow their horns on (presumably before going under the 277 bridge). Even being on the 7th floor I can also hear street conversations. If you are a light sleeper, I would not recommend choosing a unit on the side with the train tracks, but I can imagine the Mint Street side would have plenty of noise from street and foot traffic as well. The pool deck was closed for extended periods multiple times during my time living here (most recently this summer for about 3 weeks). The complex uses an outdated call box system to give access to the building. Mind you, they started accepting residents in 2023. A building this new should not have a call box (and a bad one at that) to let guests or contractors in. More often than not I would have to walk downstairs to let people in. The gym is TINY. It gets the job done in a pinch, but if I was seriously lifting weights I would've had to get a gym membership elsewhere The leasing office had high turnover, which led to confusion. My roommate and I were not able to find our renewed lease agreement in our emails and it took the office over 20 minutes to find it and send it to us when we went to them. The lease itself had conflicting information; the parking garage dates were different from the move out date, which led to me and my roommate erroneously signing up for 2 more months than we intended. That's on us for not being more attentive, but with a company as big as Link/Grubb Properties this should not happen. Parking is EXPENSIVE. I understand this is prime real estate in Charlotte, but paying $325 per month for two cars is quite a price. From what I understand, the price is higher than this now as well. I believe I am grandfathered into the old price. Resident events were good when I first moved in, but the high turnover in the leasing office has affected this part heavily. I met plenty of people my first few months living here, which was great! I was really sad to see this go away over time
Overall, I believe this apartment is overpriced for quality offered and will not be renewing my lease...
Read moreThis is an apartment complex with a leasing team that is completely uncaring and unempathetic. If you are looking for an apartment in south end or broader Charlotte, literally pick ANY of the other hundreds of options. There have been multiple things that have put me off about Link apartments over the year and a half I have lived here. Once, I lost my keys, and was unable to get into the complex and my apartment. Thinking that the leasing team that pronounces this apartment as “upscale living,” would be helpful in the case of a lockout, I called maintenance and the leasing team. While I admit I called multiple times, instead of help in a time of need, I was told by maintenance that if I continued to call, I would be given a warning letter. Later that morning when I ran into one of the leasing team members (Serena, but they all live on site!!), instead of being empathetic and providing any resources or help, she instead told me that there was nothing she could do since it was after office hours and the office was closed. I had to call a locksmith. You would think that an apartment offering “stylish elegance” and the “ultimate lifestyle” would have resources in place for this very common problem. Eventually, when I went to the leasing office during office hours, I was told I could only pay to replace my keys with a money order. They were able to replicate the keys onsite, meaning the leasing team member I ran into the day I needed them could have helped, but just chose not to. Aside from this experience, parking at Link costs $150/month and is very limited, as for seven floors of apartments, there are only 2 very small floors of parking. Other apartments in the area charge less than half this price and have parking spots available on each floor. The leasing team will tell you that street parking is easily available, but I know many people who have chosen not to buy the limited and overpriced parking pass, and they have received many citations and fines, or have even gotten their cars towed. And this is not to mention that on game days (since Link is so close to the BofA stadium), getting street parking around the complex is pretty much impossible. Also, I recently found out that the parking garage, which again is $150 a month, is not even officially secure parking. They do not have any cameras in the parking garage, and when my car was broken into, they offered NO restitution. They simply told me the lease says that the garage is not secure and that there was nothing they could do. Just another example of the unempathetic leasing team and them taking your money for little in return. Overall, while the amenities and apartments themselves are fine, the leasing team and bad choices in building sink this place. Also, there is consistently problems around the complex with the garage door, entrances, or elevators malfunctioning. 0...
Read moreDon’t move here. There’s a reason they are giving away two months rent. To start off simple… this building has a mold problem. I know of several people who have had to move out due to their apartments being covered in mold. Clothes shoes bedding everything in mold. Building has done little to resolve as this has been going on for over a year. update: after speaking with the leasing office, I was told the only way to prevent mold is you keep the AC off… they are stating the AC units over heat when they are on and start sucking in the outside air into your apartment… not sure how this is a solution The apartments may look nice and new but you can tell they were done quickly and cheaply as soon as you move in. All of my drawers fall off the tracks when I open them. I have done maintenance requests and nothing has been fixed. The smoke alarms are placed right above the kitchen. They are heat activated. Every time I open my oven the fire alarm goes off. Cooking on the stove, they alarm goes off. I have set off the alarm from toast. This isn’t just a problem for me as I constantly have to hear the alarms going off in other apartments as well. The elevators are constantly breaking and when living on floor 6 this is a huge inconvenience. Parking here is also awful. Residents pay anywhere from $0-175/ month to park their car. This number is just determined by the leasing office when you move in and can never be adjusted. As almost every other apartment building has free parking $175 is a crazy ask. For this parking you are getting a “secure” garage. Not sure if constantly having car break ins bc the garage doors are broken should count as that. Also there’s no cameras in the garage so if your car gets broken into, sucks for you. I have lived here for about a year and have still yet to be added to the call box. Both trash shoots are not operable only one. These problems are not at fault of the leasing agents. April is super responsive, helping, and always friendly. But there’s not much they can do in terms of fixing the building. For the price they’re asking for these apartments, with all the added problems and stresses, I am not sure why anyone would choose here over somewhere...
