We came here at the very end of the restaurant week January 2024. In fact, this was the only restaurant we choose for restaurant week this year. To start off, if you park in The parking garage at the building at which stir is in there's two ways out. If you look and you see an ABC store, go out that exit and take a left towards the ABC store and stir will be on your left. Whereas if you go out the other way and take a right, you'll be taking the long walk around the block to find the restaurant. That was just our experience though and we hope that you will find the correct way or faster way to get there instead of walking all the way around. When we got there, it's pretty dead at 5:00 p.m. on a Sunday, but that was kind of nice as we were able to choose any table that we wanted. Example we got to choose between high top or low top or booth. Which is low top and got seated and got our kids situated in a high chair. During the time the waiter came by and asked us if we ready for any drinks and we just started off with water. After some time of being able to get situated and looking through the menu we will decide it on getting a cocktail. I can't remember the name of both of them but I think mine was the elder flower cocktail and my wife had a cucumber. Something one as well. Both of them were fantastic. For the specials of the week, we chose to go with the three course menus of which I chose the oysters, the steak and cheesecake. My wife had chosen the mahi bites, the chocolate espresso cake and the Boa buns. Unfortunately for my wife, her meal was not the best in my opinion, however, my meal was absolutely fantastic. The problem with hers was that the fish was very salty along with the rice or risotto that it was served on. For the appetizer, the boa buns were a little bit crispy and they weren't soft as a typical boa bun would be. Chocolate cake was awesome. A little bit too dense for me as well. However, if we skip over to my meal everything was absolutely fantastic. The oysters were absolutely delicious. Served with many different flavors on top of them for which I can appreciate as not enjoying oysters raw. The steak was cooked absolutely perfectly and it had some of the best fries on the side that I've ever had in my life, especially at a fancy restaurant. For dessert, the cheesecake was light fluffy and absolutely delicious. I would 100% order that again. I could Recommend that specific menu enough.
As a side note, don't be an a** and ask for a new booth and then a new booth after that after you get seated twice. It's really annoying when people are coming in the restaurant and people are constantly moving tables after...
Read moreThere is a first time for everything! Went to Stir Saturday afternoon, I received the worst service ever in my life! I was greeted when I walked in confirmed if I wanted outside or inside. I requested outside, I was taking to the table with dirty chairs the one chair that wasn’t dirty was a broken chair that I actually sat and fell in! I managed to get up and go back to the hostess stand to be greeted by another hostess a female! I explained to her the available chairs were dirty and one of the chairs were broke and I didn’t realize it til I fell! The hostess looked at me and said do you want to sit on the inside! At this point I’m confused on her response! So I repeated myself and she proceeded to ask the same question! I just explained the chairs are dirty and the chair that wasn’t was broke and I fell and all you have to say is do you want to sit inside! I asked who was her manager and she walked away from me saying whatever! The gentlemen that was now at the hostess table said I am one of the managers I explained to him the same thing he said we can get the chairs cleaned or move you to another table outside. I said that’s fine! I also said I’m not understanding why nobody apologize to me or acknowledged what happened especially me falling in an already broken chair. He said I didn’t know you fell! So nobody is listening to me! He said that he will address the issue with the hostess but we are busy and in between shifts and will not be able to do that now! In my option i disagreed because she doesn’t need to talk or handle another customer the way she handled me! The female hostess came back over and started to make faces at me! When I brought that to the managers attention she continued to do the same thing but worse because I saw her speaking under her breathe! As the other person was preparing a clean table for me I decided to leave! Going out to eat is a luxury! I don’t have to continue to spend my money at a restaurant that doesn’t value me as a customer! Sadly I have been coming to Stir since you opened with a 2 hour wait time! This is my go to place when people come visit me from out of town! I’m at Stir atleast 2-3 times a month! This experience has forever changed me from continuing to spend my money where there is a lack of respect for customers, nobody should be so busy that you don’t make the customer...
Read moreMy friends and I had a pretty underwhelming/disappointing experience here. We arrived right at opening on Saturday for brunch after finishing up a road race and were excited to enjoy a delicious meal somewhere new.
There were maybe 3 or 4 other parties but it was empty for the most part. Atmosphere/decor wise, it's very light, trendy, and chic, so definitely good ambiance overall.
We were seated at a large booth and put our orders for drinks in first. We shared a mason jar mimosa and also got a spicy bloody mary. The mimosa was good but not chilled so I had to ask for a glass of ice. My friend's bloody took awhile to come out as well. And they did not serve it with extra olives as she had requested.
We started with some broccolini appetizer and then for the entrees got an assortment of sandwiches, benedicts, and a scramble bowl.
My friends also got some oysters that they enjoyed. That was probably their favorite part.
The rest of the food took awhile to come out, considering it really wasn't that busy. On the bright side, the entrees did come with the small self-serve buffet at the center table - just an assortment of muffins, pastries, and light salads. I didn't get anything but my friends the tomato cucumber salad and some cheese/crackers.
As far as the entrees go, definitely a let down in terms of flavor and plating. I had the breakfast sandwich and hashbrowns, and the bread was not toasted or buttered or anything - looked like it came straight out of the bag. They did cook it with the egg over easy instead of scrambled though which was nice. But other than that, just lacking in flavor. I should have asked for some hot sauce.
My friend's lobster cake benedict was even more underwhelming. Plating wise, we couldn't even tell what it was at first and had forgotten what she ordered. The cakes were very small, and then the eggs and hollandaise were each in their own little saucers. Just a strange presentation that had us more confused than anything else. She felt the same about the taste as well.
Overall, I want to say this place does have potential, but they need to improve their service (or at least speed) and fine tune the recipes a little more. I wouldn't be opposed to giving another chance, but I also wouldn't rush back before checking out some...
