This is an underappreciated place. I mean it. Charlottesville isn't exactly overflowing with culinary delights and I have found that I am thrilled just to have consistency. Extreme Pizza- although a smallish chain- is consistent, and just better than anything else around (here). Again, I mean it, I haven't found a better pizza in town. That's not a low-bar thing either, they compete with pizza in better food scenes I've lived in. Furthermore, they have a great staff. Low-key, easy to deal with, happy to fix an issue with no drama. The price is right as well. I would even say it's a bargain. So why did I not give my favorite pizza place in all of Albemarle County 5 Stars? BECAUSE THEIR WEBSITE SUCKS AND THEIR PHONE SYSTEM IS BUGGY AF!!! I recognize that they are growing or going through the restaurant equivalent of puberty- voice changing, hair-where-there-was-no-hair (figuratively speaking) but they've changed website formats at least two times in the past few months and each change was dramatically worse. The phone thing I don't understand. I call from my cell or my wife's, I call from a landline at work or home, about one in six times the guy can't hear me. I thought it was me but I've found others with the same tales of woe. It is frustrating and when I've got eight people at the office that finally agree on a place for lunch it's caused consensus to break and we order elsewhere. Why was I calling the order in? For awhile the website wouldn't let you do half and half specialty pizzas which is one of the best features about this place. I don't know if they still have that issue because I quit trying to order for work. Still, best pizza in Cville with a top notch staff. I'm waiting on my order right now and I know I can write this review because in four years of eating there, they have never...
ย ย ย Read moreWhen I saw so many 1star reviews I wasn't sure if I wanted to order to try here... but realized almost all of them were from 1 to 4 years ago and there are a lot of 4~5 stars from recent reviews. So we went for it! Sure glad we did. There are plenty of fun weird ^^ signature pizzas, build-your-own, 8 different veggie pizzas, by the slice, half & half, 5 different sizes to choose from, subs, salads, wings, and more. I literally had to study the menu. Some are a little too different toppings for my taste but it sure seems crazy fun enough to try it anyway. The wings were a little too small but I was happy with the way it was cooked. I didn't have to scrape off the skin or cut off any fat. The menu was a bit confusing because on their website menu, the Google map menu, and Uber Eats menu seemed different. I could be wrong. One honest thing about here is Uber Eats menu price was not increased to cover their cost not like so many other places. I'm glad I gave this place a try. I hope they do well. Upper mgmt seems to care about people's good and/or bad...
ย ย ย Read moreThe pizza was just so bad it was no better than buying a frozen pie and taking it home. No flavor at all. Like plain canned sauce and hardly any cheese. The crust is neither thin and crispy or full and chewy. The crust is just plain and tasteless as eating the box that pizzas come in. Pizza should be fun and exciting, full of flavor, a dash of garlic, a little basil, the aroma of olive oil. Plenty of gooey cheese and sauce that drips down your chin. The pizza is almost like plain damp cracker with some melted cheese on top. See the photo, it will not inspire you. I do really like the restaurant space, it's a friendly and airy room with a little bar area and lots of glass. It's also clean and neat. I assume that the real purpose of the restaurant is to serve beer after the dinner hour, and take advantage of the outdoor space called The Yard, but the pizza here is not an attraction. I give it two stars instead of one because they are so clean and they have draft beer, not just...
