Good coffee, fun shop. We came at the height of busy on a Saturday afternoon, so we did have a decent wait in a crowded store. However, the staff were composed and kept things moving. I had a drip coffee, which was very tasty. A little bit of a cocoa aftertaste, which I enjoyed. My daughter got an iced mocha which was delicious; a good balance of cocoa and sweet. And my wife got an iced chai with soy. Nothing special about it, but still good. They only have soy and hemp alternatives if you don't drink dairy, no almond. Clearly this is a popular spot with the college folks too; almost every sitting customer had their laptop and text book. I wouldn't hesitate to go back, but might look for another nearby spot if it was too busy.

Had high hopes for this place since it is supposed to be a high end coffee roaster. Only one person working, and he was in no hurry. Someone asked if he was all by himself, he replied that someone was in back but he as “fine. We purchased two drinks and two pounds of coffee. Asked for extra hot…and waited and waited. An attractive young woman came in and got her coffee immediately. Finally the saw us sitting there and said “what did you have” and pointed to a coffee on the counter that had been sitting there for 5 min (and never been told) and the second was almost ready. Flavor was good but both were lukewarm, as was our experience for $60

I’m in love and I may literally never leave, sitting cross cross on a wooden window seat with pillows. Sigh! The barista was kind and knowledgeable, handling a long line alone with ease and grace and not turning away our pour over request. My vanilla oatmilk latte was absolutely delicious. Top 2 in the state I’ve had so far… lip smacking delicious. The pour over was great as well! The vibe is chill…not pretentious at all. Clientele on a Friday morning was a nice mix of all very sweet people…holding doors for one another, kiddos, people working, etc. My only regret is that I don’t live closer to come more often!!

This is a Charlottesville institution! If you drink coffee, tea, or any type of beverages, you'll be so happy you come here. It's way better than than the giant coffee franchise that everyone knows and I won't mention it's name. All of their drinks are very well made with great care and deliciousness! The ambiance of the downtown mall Mudhouse is superb (all of the Mudhouses are wonderful!). Whether you're meeting friends to have coffee or you're writing your great American novel, you won't be disappointed with the atmosphere. This is one of the busier Mudhouses and can get a bit noisey, but it's also a great place to sit outside and people watch. I love their Matcha lattes they are very well made here! I've never been disappointed by any of their drinks. They also do a really great iced coffee. You just can't go wrong. There is a nice offering of light food as well for a quick bite. If you live in Charlottesville, you've probably already enjoyed the Mudhouse. If you're visiting, the Mudhouse is not to be missed! I highly recommend the Mudhouse you won't be...

Maybe I just came on a bad day, but I genuinely don't understand the appeal of this place. The espresso was charred beyond recognition and the oat milk in the oat milk latte my group ordered was similarly burned. The cold brew tasted like it was the prior day's drip coffee thrown in the refrigerator overnight. To top it all off, one of the baristas was running between tables chastising customers for not putting their masks back on after every sip of coffee. I completely understand requiring masks while waiting in line or walking through the common areas, but if a business owner can't tolerate people not wearing masks even while they are sitting at a socially distanced table drinking coffee, then that business needs to just go back to takeout only. It made for an unpleasant atmosphere.

Bad coffee, bad vibe. I recommend going to Milli Coffee Roasters instead. It's a four minute walk away and provides a much better product...

We were passing through Charlottesville before our tour of Monticello and were looking for a coffee shop with a historic slice of life and charming vibe. We stopped at the right place. Our barista was a coffee connoisseur who educated us on flavor profiles. We're not that picky, so we both had the caramel latte and got some banana bread. The only thing I would say is that it's a little pricey, around $30 for the two of us. However, it was good coffee and a great atmosphere in a great location. We loved the warm, cozy decor and the paintings of different places. It looks like a popular place because there were consistent customers, but it never felt crowded because of the openness of the room and people getting things to go. I recommend dining in because of the chill vibe. If we're ever passing through, we'll...
