BitterSweet — Local services in Charlottesville

There are lots of boutiques on the downtown mall, but I always make sure to stop in Bittersweet. I know I will find something I like that is actually reasonably priced for a designer label. I needed to find a dress for a dinner, so I headed to Bittersweet (and actually didn't need to go anywhere else!) Anyway, I found a few dresses I thought would work but the store didn't have my size. The salesperson called their other store that did have my size. The new dresses were shipped to the Charlottesville store by the end of the week and it was really a heart-wrenching decision over which one to pick (and really... I should have just bought both). While I was antagonizing over which dress to buy, the woman working there told me her opinion and helped me choose one. And actually, every time I go in there, the salespeople always point out new arrivals and popular items. Very helpful and friendly. BitterSweet is my favorite local clothing store. It's always a great time to visit. Even though it's a local store, the people working there are always so friendly and attentive, you never feel they pressure you to make any purchase. I love their unique style--definitely distinctive enough from any big clothing designers. At the same time, they always follow the current trends and there are always something so good every season. I personally have half a dozen items from them and they all last pretty long. I also find their sizing very friendly to a very short person like myself. That is the sleeves are usually not super long and their small actually fits me well (compared to some bigger stores where their extra-smalls would still be too big for me). The only exception is their maxi-dresses. They are still way too long for me. But I enjoy them enough sometimes that I've had one of the maxi dresses tailored...

I have been shopping in this store since they were in their old location and am thrilled that they moved onto the downtown mall. Every time that I go into their store I always find the perfect piece and the service is always stellar. The entire staff has always been pleasant and helpful and goes above and beyond to ensure that my shopping experience is top notch. Last time I visited the store their Downtown mall location was sold out of my size and the owner offered to have the correct size shipped from their Lynchburg store. As a result, I ended up buying a pair of Frye boots that I love and wear almost every day!
