I'm so glad I found this place. Their local, fresh caught seafood was amazing. Everything we ordered was caught locally that day, and it was delicious. Below listed is the item I liked best to the item I liked least...
Fish and chips: fresh fried Haddock with fries, cole slaw, tartar sauce Lightly breaded, deep-fried fish (delicious), and very tender. French fries were not hand cut but still very good. Cole slaw is very good, too. I didn't care for the tartar sauce, but only because there were chunks of onion in it, and I don't like raw onion.
Blackened Swordfish - delicious and tender
buttered lobster roll - it was good but not hardly buttery much at all. The lobster was sweet, and some of the meat was tender, and some of it was chewy. Ordered it with onion rings (my husband likes), which had a good flavor but were soft and kind of soggy, not crispy.
Crab cake (side) - had a good flavor, but I've had much better. It was a good size, though.
Everything tasted fresh, and nothing tasted fishy at all. It is a little pricey, but it is freshly caught daily and well worth it.
Overall: I would highly rate the Chatham Pier Fish Market and recommend it to anyone going to Cape Cod. We went out of our way to go there and would again, to experience the fresh caught dinner. They had a lookout deck overlooking the harbor. We were there in the last part of May and saw a couple seals. Great experience!...
Read morePricey pier-side eatery with outdoor seating (picnic tables) + seafood market + public viewing of fisherman unloading their catch. We arrived shortly after 12p but unfortunately there was no activity to been seen. Beautiful view nonetheless with seals/seagulls in and around the pier. Food was good but pricey (though I started to realize it was par for course in Cape Cod); I did walk away with 10lbs of live lobsters for the family's evening dinner. Again, more expensive than I'd expected but it was 50% of what we would have paid at a restaurant so no complaints really. Other recommendations for fish markets were a reasonable drive away. Though the seafood looked fresh (and there was plenty of variety to select) there was disappointingly no live catch to see. 4-star for the food, 3-star for the seafood offering (knocking them back 2-star for not having live catch for viewing) and 3-stars for what is clearly a 'tourist' attraction and rather small functioning 'fishing' operation (nothing compared with Tsukiji fish...
Read moreDISAPPOINTING. We ordered 1 hot/buttered lobster roll and 2 cold/traditional lobster rolls. All came with fries, which were the highlight of the meal. The people taking the orders and placing them in the pick-up window were happy to serve up unlimited side dishes of snarky attitude; while not what we ordered, it complimentary.
The bread on the bottom of the hot "buttered" lobster roll was a disgusting, soggy, bloated mess. How it got soggy is beyond me because there was ZERO butter on this roll. I've had hot, buttered lobster rolls many, many times, and to claim there was butter on this roll is a gross misrepresentation. The cold lobster rolls were tasteless and bland. Our family has had a summer home in Chatham since 1968 and the CPFM once was a staple for us. We used to pick up all sorts of seafood to take home and cook. After the sad garbage we paid $135 for here, we went to Mack's two nights in a row and picked up amazing seafood for far less. It's going to be a long while before we come back...
